Home friendly match played on 28 June 2014.
Kicked off at 3:00 PM

Our first official game under Incepcion Football club. We were back to the same venue as our Inauguration Launch the week. It was a 3.00pm kick off and we will be earing our Black kits. Maybe it could be a good omen as the black won last week’s match.

Our opponent this week was Hercules FC. They are a bunch of young players whom we were playing against for the first time. We welcome Joseph and Edward back after a long while out.

We started the first half with strong intents of dominating the midfield like we always do. The game plan was to play the triangle midfield rotation so we can have options to switch to an either Attacking or Defensive midfield shape depending on the game demands. As explained before, I hope to introduce more tactics and technical flexibility to our game play so we don’t seem so one dimensional. The 4-1-4-1 system that I’ve adopted gave us the technical flexibility of playing a 4-5-1, 4-4-1-1 or even 4-2-3-1 when the need arises.

Maybe the players were still adapting to the new system as often we became more defensive than before. However, our midfields and back fours were so much stronger than our opponents. Hercules does have one of two good players that have some problems containing.

We conceded our first goal in the 35th minutes. A lapse of concentration from the left allow their striker to score an unstoppable goal against SK. We do have our chances but our link up plays weren’t fluent enough to cause any kinds of trouble to our opponent. We simply do not have enough players in the attacking third to cause any real opportunities as Colin has been isolated out mostly. His movement lacks the mobility that I wanted to see so something we have to work on in the coming games. The game was 0-1 at half time. To sum up the first half, we were quite solid in midfield and defense but our attacking movements weren’t quite at the level that I wanted to see.

The half time team talk focused on the movements of the strikers. I wanted them to be more fluent in their movements and being less static. To anticipate and getting involved with the play more rather than waiting for things to happen.

In the second half, we were asserting more pressure to Hercules. Marc started the game in this half. He must have heeded my instructions as he was a constant menace to the opponent defense. His hurrying and movements were what I wanted to see as he held the ball up ever so well that brought our midfield into the game more often.  In the 57 minutes, Marc setup a brilliant ball for Lawrence to score a wonderfully uted left foot strike that left the opposition keeper grasping for air.

Marc scored his first goal for us 8 minutes later with an individual piece of brilliant. Again, his movements were good as he went to meet a pass from Patrick from the right and attempted a long shot from 30 yards out. The ball went into the back of the net eluding pass the helpless keeper.

Overall it was a good team performance as we saw out the game 2-1. We lost both Edward and Joseph to injuries. It must have been too demanding for them as they have been away from the game for a long time. The man of the match this week goes to Marc for his brilliant second half performance.

Well done Incepion FC. Our first win in the new era!
