Inter Pro Green Show Their Class in Thrilling Battle Against Strengthened Hyndburn Youth
The stage was set at Foxhill Playing Fields on 27 April 2025 as Inter Pro Green took on Hyndburn Youth U12 Green in a hotly anticipated league encounter. Despite Hyndburn bolstering their side with three players from their higher-division squad, it was Inter Pro Green who impressed most, putting on a brilliant display of heart, skill, and determination to earn a thrilling 3-3 draw — a result that felt unjust given the controversial circumstances surrounding the final goal.
Inter Pro Green lined up with Cooper Brown between the posts, backed by a strong defensive trio of Noah Evans (left-back), Tyler Liddiard (centre-back), and Orin Earnshaw (right-back). In midfield, the tireless Jasper Edwards controlled the centre, flanked by Rory Farquhar on the right and the dynamic Arlie Holden on the left. Up front, the dangerous pairing of Charlie Brown and Lawy Hassan led the line. Ready to make an impact from the bench were Kadhim Edan, Laurentiu Catavel, and Aseel Jouher.
The match exploded into life early, with Noah Evans making a vital clearance in the opening minute. Against the early run of play, Hyndburn Youth scored first in the third minute, aided by the quality of their higher-division players.
But Inter Pro Green hit back instantly. In the fifth minute, Charlie Brown pounced inside the box after a smart build-up to level the scores at 1-1, showcasing his natural striker’s instincts.
Inter Pro pushed forward confidently, with Charlie Brown firing just wide in the eighth minute and Lawy Hassan creating a dangerous opening with a clever flick. Defensively, Tyler Liddiard made two crucial interceptions to keep Hyndburn at bay.
Despite their dominance, Inter Pro found themselves trailing again when Hyndburn snatched a second goal in the 13th minute — another against-the-run-of-play strike. Nevertheless, Inter Pro Green refused to panic. Orin Earnshaw made a vital interception and Arlie Holden cleared the danger as the boys in green stayed very much in the contest.
Managerial changes at the 15-minute mark saw Kadhim Edan and Laurentiu Catavel replace Orin Earnshaw and Lawy Hassan, and Kadhim Edan immediately made an impact with an important defensive header.
Charlie Brown forced another save in the 18th minute, while Rory Farquhar sent a fierce shot just wide as Inter Pro Green ended the half in the ascendancy despite the 2-1 scoreline.
The second half began with Inter Pro full of intent. Arlie Holden had an early chance that flew just wide, and Charlie Brown continued to be a constant threat, though caught narrowly offside on a promising move.
Fresh legs came again when Aseel Jouher replaced Jasper Edwards in the 31st minute — and Inter Pro’s pressure paid off almost immediately. In the 32nd minute, Kadhim Edan lofted a brilliant long pass over the Hyndburn back line, and Arlie Holden controlled magnificently before rifling a shot into the net to make it 2-2.
Riding the wave of momentum, Inter Pro struck again just minutes later. Charlie Brown, ever the predator, finished smartly to give Inter Pro Green a well-deserved 3-2 lead — their reward for dominating both possession and territory.
Determined to protect their advantage, Inter Pro showed immense defensive courage. Cooper Brown made an excellent parry in the 58th minute and bravely dived at an opponent’s feet moments later to preserve the lead.
However, controversy marred the final moments. Hyndburn were wrongly awarded a corner after the ball had clearly gone out for an Inter Pro goal kick. The linesman signaled for the goal kick, but the referee overruled him in Hyndburn’s favour — a baffling decision. From the resulting corner, Hyndburn scrambled the ball home to make it 3-3, dealing a cruel blow to Inter Pro’s heroic efforts.
Despite this injustice, Inter Pro Green continued to push for a winner. Arlie Holden had another effort that flew just over the bar, and Kadhim Edan made a vital header to snuff out Hyndburn's final attack.
At full-time, the 3-3 draw barely told the true story. Against a Hyndburn team strengthened by three higher-division players — and despite being robbed of victory by a questionable officiating decision — Inter Pro Green were the better side. Every player fought with passion, bravery, and skill, showing that Inter Pro’s spirit and teamwork are second to none. The lads can be immensely proud of a performance full of heart, quality, and determination.
