Away league match played on 26 February 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Jubilee FC faced the Barge at the presdales. Jubilee were looking for revenge for their early season thrashing at the hands of the Barge. Elton Marks went with a 4-5-1 formation. Luke ‘Bosnich’ Lloyd started in goal. Piers ‘livewire’ Short and Saul ‘Set-piece’ Charalambos started at right and left back. Nicky Alvarez returned from injury to partner Matt ‘mad-dog’ Brown at centre back. Johnny ‘left-peg’ Heather and Josh ‘Flick’ Rogers started on the left and right of midfield. Isaiah ‘Arsenal’ Rankin, David Binder and Nick Lapite were in the central midfield. Joe Benbow led the Jubilee FC attack. Max Charalambos and Jon Cerveno were warming the bench for Jubilee FC today.

Jubilee kicked off and passed the ball around well. When the barge were in possession Jubilee were quick on their heels to shut them down and prevent them from having time to pick out a ball. Jubilee were winning their fair share of 50/50s with Nick Lapite and Isaiah Rankin doing well. Jubilee had the first attacking chance with Isaiah Rankin doing well in the middle before laying the ball off to Josh Rogers. Josh Fired the ball across goal and Isaiah Just put the ball wide.

This seemed to wake up the barge and they went on the attack. Their left midfielder somehow outpaced Piers Short to whip in a cross which was dipping in the far corner of the goal but Luke Lloyd saved well. The Barge had a few chances and hit the bar twice but Jubilee were going close at the other end with Joe Benbow narrowly putting a long range effort wide.

Just as Jubilee thought they could nick it before half time a ball down the right split the defence and allowed the winger time and space to pick out the striker how slotted into the bottom corner. 1-0 to the Barge.

Jubilee kicked off and tried to assert some pressure. The pressure resulted in a corner for Jubilee. Johnny Heather whipped in a cross that hit the back post and back out. All it needed was the faintest of touches to take it in the back of the net.

Unfortunately just as the half time whistle was about to blow a ball played into the left channel was passed to an oncoming runner who powered the power in the top corner. 2-0 to the barge.

The half time whistle sounded and the score was 2-0. The Jubilee players felt a little hard done by and knew that if they would manage to get a goal back in the second period they may have a chance to nick it.

The barge kicked off and punted the ball long to the deep runner who latched on the ball and dispatched the third goal of the game. 3-0 to the Barge…not the start the Jubilee team were looking for.

Unfortunately heads dropped and the game seemed to die off. Luke Lloyd made a few crucial saves to keep the game respectable but it wasn’t long before the barge scored their fourth of the game 4-0.

Elton Marks looked to make some changes putting on Jon Cerveno for Josh Rogers and Max Charalambos for Piers Short. Jon and Max linked up well down the right with Max crossing in a nice ball which was just a bit too high for the oncoming Nick Lapite.

Every Jubilee attack was met with the offside flag which killed the Jubilee spirit and the game as a whole. The Barge scored their 5th of the game.

The full time whistle blew with the score at 5-0. The Jubilee players were rightly disappointed but they have the chance to bounce back this week in the Senior Invitational Cup against Buntingford Cougars. Isaiah Rankin got the MoTm award for his disciplined performance especially in the second half of the game by marking the barges most dangerous player.
