On Sunday 8 March 2026, Lads Club Juniors U12 travelled to Bartestree Village Hall for a 10:30am kick-off in a league away match contested over 60 minutes plus added time. The 9-a-side encounter saw Lads Club Juniors emerge victorious with a 3-1 win over Bartestree U12 in front of 24 spectators.
Lads Club Juniors lined up in a 3-4-1 formation, deploying three defenders at the back, four midfielders across the middle, and a lone striker leading the line. Lucas Price guarded the goal, with Charlie Arnold at right defender, Archie Rigby centrally positioned in defence, and Louis Howells on the left. The midfield quartet featured Finn Jones on the right, Zayn Prosser and Flyn Watkins occupying central midfield roles, and Joseph Lee operating on the left flank against his corner Club. Oscar Jones was tasked as the sole striker, positioned to spearhead attacks. This setup demanded defensive solidity from the back three, midfield control and creativity from the four across the middle, and clinical finishing from the striker. The substitutes named were Charlie Clueit, Thomi Scoular, and Chase Bracegirdle raring to make an impact.
The match began with early action in goal as Lucas Price produced a crucial parry in the third minute, denying Bartestree’s initial efforts. Just two minutes later, Lads Club Juniors took the lead when Joseph Lee dribbled down the left wing and delivered a precise cross, allowing Finn Jones to tap in at the far post from close range with his left foot. Bartestree responded swiftly, equalising in the seventh minute through a well-worked team move with Theo grabbing the goal.
Lucas Price remained alert, catching a shot at goal in the ninth minute to keep the scores level. Lads Club Juniors then started to assert themselves, with Zayn Prosser attempting a shot wide in the twelfth minute before making a vital tackle a minute later to regain possession. Finn Jones tested the opposition goalkeeper again at 14 minutes, though his effort was saved, and moments later Louis Howells thwarted a Bartestree chance with a timely tackle.
Charlie Cluit, Archie Rigby and Louis Howell soon adjusted themselves to smother any attacking efforts from the Bartestree counter attacks. At the 20-minute mark, Lads Club Juniors made a double substitution, bringing on Charlie Clueit for Charlie Arnold and Thomi Scoular for Oscar Jones. Two minutes later, Chase Bracegirdle replaced Finn Jones, signalling a tactical refresh in midfield and attack. Flyn Watkins had a shot saved at 25 minutes, while both Zayn Prosser and Thomi Scoular saw attempts go wide shortly after. Archie Rigby contributed defensively with a key tackle at 29 minutes, helping to maintain the team’s shape.
The first half concluded at 30 minutes with the score still level at 1-1. Early in the second half, Chase Bracegirdle made another important tackle at 31 minutes, while Zayn Prosser continued to press forward, albeit with a wide shot. Joseph Lee’s creativity shone through at 35 minutes when he executed a pass that created a clear chance, followed by a saved effort from Thomi Scoular.
Another substitution followed at 36 minutes, with Finn Jones returning to the pitch in place of Flyn Watkins. The breakthrough came in the 43rd minute when Joseph Lee embarked on a solo run, shear determination got him to the ball before an oncoming defender allowing him to finish confidently with his right foot to put Lads Club Juniors ahead 2-1. Chase Bracegirdle was then replaced by Oscar Jones at 44 minutes, who immediately tested the goalkeeper with a saved shot a minute later.
Joseph Lee remained a constant threat, having a shot saved at 47 minutes, closely followed by a saved attempt from Zayn Prosser. At 48 minutes, Prosser’s long pass created another opportunity, though Joseph Lee’s subsequent effort went wide at 49 minutes. Charlie Arnold returned to the field at 50 minutes, replacing Charlie Clueit.
Lucas Price was called into action again at 53 minutes, making a point-blank reaction save to deny Bartestree. Joseph Lee was caught offside for a mistimed run at 55 minutes, as was Oscar Jones moments later. Despite this, Oscar Jones tested the goalkeeper once more with a saved shot at 55 minutes.
Archie Rigby cleared danger at the 60-minute mark, while Zayn Prosser’s shot was saved in the same minute. 4 minutes of extra time was played for two injuries in the second half where Finn Jones fired wide at 60 minutes before Lucas Price made a diving save at his feet at 62 minutes to keep the lead intact. The final goal arrived in the 63rd minute when Oscar Jones, assisted by Thomi Scoular’s throw in, ran from the half way line edging himself infront of the defender to finish inside the box with his left foot, sealing a 3-1 victory for Lads Club Juniors.
Joseph Lee’s influential performance, combining creativity, defensive work, and a crucial goal, earned him the player of the match accolade. Lads Club Juniors’ disciplined 3-4-1 formation and effective use of substitutions proved decisive in securing three valuable points on the road.
