Lads Club Juniors U12 travelled to Belmont Abbey on 1 March 2026 for a 9-a-side league away fixture against Toros FC U12 Lightning, kicking off at 10:30am. The match ended in a commanding 11-2 triumph for Lads Club Juniors, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity over the 60 minutes.
Deploying a 3-2-3 formation, Lads Club Juniors approached this game with the intent to attack, lined up with Lucas Price in goal, flanked by Louis Howells at right defender, Archie Rigby centrally, and Charlie Clueit on the left. The midfield duo of Flyn Watkins and Zayn Prosser were tasked with controlling the centre of the park, linking defence and attack. Upfront, Joseph Lee operated on the left forward, Oscar Jones as the central striker, and Chase Bracegirdle on the right forward position. This setup aimed to balance defensive cover with fluid attacking options on the flanks and through the middle. The impact substitutes named were Thomi Scoular, Finn Jones, and Charlie Arnold.
The game burst into life almost immediately as Joseph Lee opened the scoring in the second minute with a composed solo effort, calmly slotting home with his right foot. Just two minutes later, goalkeeper Lucas Price was called into action, making a crucial low dive at the feet to deny an early Toros FC attempt. The Lads Club Juniors doubled their lead in the fifth minute when Oscar Jones finished inside the box with his left foot, following a neat short pass from Zayn Prosser.
Flyn Watkins demonstrated his vision in the seventh minute with a precise long pass that helped maintain attacking momentum. Moments later, Louis Howells got on the scoresheet himself, converting a close-range right-footed finish inside the box to make it 3-0, Louis danced back to his own half in delight shouting "I actually scored".The early dominance prompted swift substitutions by Lads Club Juniors at the eighth minute, with Thomi Scoular replacing Oscar Jones and Finn Jones coming on for Flyn Watkins, injecting fresh legs into midfield and attack.
Chase Bracegirdle tested the opposition goal with a wide attempt at the ninth minute, followed by a similar wide effort from Thomi Scoular two minutes later. At the 13th minute, Charlie Arnold replaced Charlie Clueit at left defender, signalling tactical adjustments to maintain defensive stability.
Finn Jones made an immediate impact, scoring inside the box with a right-footed finish in the 15th minute. However, Toros FC responded quickly, pulling one back in the 17th minute with a long-range strike from outside the box, fired with the right foot, which somehow slipped through Lucas hands. The visitors continued to press, and just two minutes later, Toros FC found the net again with another right-footed effort from outside the area after a back pass hit a bobble, and the clearance doing straight into the path of an oncoming striker narrowing the deficit to 4-2.
Joseph Lee’s creativity shone through in the 23rd minute with a long key pass, setting up further attacking opportunities. Attempts from Thomi Scoular and Chase Bracegirdle were wide, but Finn Jones restored the three-goal cushion in the 25th minute with another clinical finish inside the box. Joseph Lee’s shot was saved in the 26th minute, and Flyn Watkins had a wide attempt a minute later before making amends with a spectacular long-range strike outside the box in the 28th minute, firing home with his right foot.
Substitutions continued as Oscar Jones returned to the field for Joseph Lee at the 28th minute. The first half concluded at the 30-minute mark with Lads Club Juniors comfortably ahead.
The second half saw Finn Jones denied by a save in the 32nd minute, though he quickly turned provider with a long pass. Defensively, Louis Howells intercepted a threat at the 33rd minute, while Archie Rigby cleared danger moments later. Oscar Jones created a chance with a long pass in the 39th minute, and despite a couple of saved and wide attempts from Finn Jones, Flyn Watkins, and Charlie Arnold, the pressure remained relentless.
Oscar Jones ran onto an out swinging corner from Finn Jones heading home in the far corner in the 43rd minute, extending the lead further. Substitutions at the 44th minute saw Chase Bracegirdle, Joseph Lee, and Charlie Clueit reintroduced, replacing Finn Jones, Thomi Scoular, and Zayn Prosser respectively.
Oscar Jones continued to test the keeper with a wide attempt in the 46th minute, while Louis Howells cleared another danger in the 47th. Archie Rigby’s wide effort came in the 49th minute before a series of substitutions shuffled the squad, including Thomi Scoular replacing goalkeeper Lucas Price, Zayn Prosser returning for Charlie Arnold, Charlie Clueit back on for Finn Jones, and Lucas Price returning in goal for Flyn Watkins.
Oscar Jones unleashed a stunning screamer from outside the box with his left foot in the 51st minute to complete his hat trick, followed by Lucas Price scoring a remarkable long-range strike in the far top corner with his right foot two minutes later. Oscar Jones had another shot saved in the 55th minute, while Joseph Lee’s attempt went high.
Finn Jones returned for Oscar Jones at the 55th minute. Archie Rigby headed home a close-range goal from a corner delivered by Zayn Prosser. Joseph Lee added a final flourish in the 59th minute with a deft lob finish using his right foot.
Thomi was left with not much to do as the game ended 11-2 in favour of Lads Club Juniors U12.
Flyn Watkins and Louis Howells were standout performers, combining defensive resilience with attacking contributions to secure a comprehensive victory on the road.
