Strollers welcomed Redpath Albion to Meggetland for the 1st round of the Miller Cup looking to avenge the 3-1 league defeat they suffered a few weeks ago.

Strollers started with the same 11 as last week and had a strong subs bench to call upon if things werent going to plan.

The Strollers started sluggishly and almost went behind, Allan rushing off his line to block well.  It was a relatively even game, however the Strollers found themselves 2-0 up early on.  The first goal came when Langstaff's low free-kick was neatly turned in at the front post by Gaunt.  Moments later they found themselves 2-0 up, Langstaff's low corner looked harmless but it somehow found its way all the way through to the back post where the unlikeliest of scorers Wallace was on hand to nod home.

This gave the Strollers a lot of believe and they began to dominate proceedings.  They lookws likely to get a third goal when Langstaff found himself clear down the left wing with the midfield duo of Mcpherson and Thomson joining Clement in the box all Langstaff had to do was pick one of them out, the striker however looked up and kicked the ball directly out the park for a by-kick, it was a truly hideous bit of football from the balding Langstaff.

Langstaffs pace was causing the Redpath defence all sorts of problems and it looked like a matter of time before the strollers got a 3rd.  Unfortunately Redpath caught the Strollers with a goal shortly before half time, the unfortunate Watt putting past his own keeper.

Half-time

LBG Strollers  2 - 1 Redpath Albion

Strollers went out for the 2nd half determined to get a 3rd goal and they almost got it, a lovely turn in the box by Clement saw him get a yard of space, however the keeper was very quickly off his line to smother Clement's effort.

Almost immediately Redpath went up the park and scored a truly stunning equaliser, the midfielder picked up the ball 30 yards out, looked up and hit a brilliant strike over Allan and in off the underside of the bar.

Campbell responded to this goal by introducing Hitchen for Hentges, and what an impact the wide-man would go on to have.

Soon after Burden was brought on for Langstaff.

Burden should have scored immediately after being set free by Hitchen, his attempted chip over the keeper drifting harmlessly wide,

The Stollers also brought on Searl and Dillon and by this stage were dominating proceedings and soon got a deserved third goal.

Brilliant play out wide by Hitchen saw him cut inside and beat 3 men before playing a nice pass to Mcpherson, Mcpherson looked up and picked his spot beautifully for his 2nd goal in 2 games.

Shortly after this another great Hitchen run saw him cut-back to fellow substitute Burden who's shot just had enough to beat the Redpath keeper.

There was still time for the Strollers to introduce their final sub, team mascot Carson coming on for the final few minutes.

A good win and performance from the Strollers sees them progress to the 2nd round of the Miller Cup.
