Home league match played on 08 March 2014.
Kicked off at 3:00 PM

Town went into this game on the back of 2 big wins against Anstey Nomads and local rivals Lutterworth Athletic. Town were still without Ross Proud with a long term injury and added James Frost to the list after he picked up an ankle injury in training on Thursday.

After 2 slow starts in their previous games Town were out of the blocks quickly in this one. Jelly had already missed 1 chance when Town broke down the left with Hardy who picked his low cross perfectly for Jelly to tap in from 2 yards inside the first 10 minutes. Town continued to press and should have been 2 up when Aubrey rounded the keeper but somehow put his effort over the bar. Jelly then had another chance as he also rounded the keeper but his effort was deflected wide by the last defender. The second goal eventually came when A.Ramkissoon broke the offside trap on the right and squared perfectly for Jelly again to slam the ball home from 8 yards. Town should then have pressed home their clear dominance but took the foot off the pedal and became sloppy in possession. Dons rallied towards the end of the half but were wasteful in front of goal. HT LTFC 2-0 CK Dons.

Town’s management stressed the importance of the next goal and it was Town who started the stronger. A.Ramkissoon was withdrawn with a groin injury but within a minute Town were 3 up when Aubrey put Hardy clean through and he slotted the ball past the oncoming keeper. Dons looked shell shocked and within another 3 minutes were 4 down when Aubrey once again was the provider when he put Jelly through on the right and he took the keeper by surprise striking it from distance and beating him on the near post. Captain Silk was then withdrawn allowing Toone to get half an hour. Town completely went off the boil knowing the game was won and allowed Dons several chances to get on the scoresheet but it was Town who had the final say when S.Ramkissoon turned provider putting Jelly through on the right, his first effort was well saved by the keeper but the ball fell kindly back to Jelly to roll into the empty net for his 4th of the afternoon. Town had won the game comfortably without being at their best and now turn their attentions to Barrow Town next Saturday who will be no pushovers after an influx of new signings and improving results. FT LTFC 5-0 CK Dons.
