Makutano FC hosted Kathua FC at Chuka on a bright morning kick-off at 10:00am, emerging with a slender 1-0 victory after a tightly contested 90 minutes plus added time. The match was a classic 11-a-side encounter, with Makutano FC edging out their opponents in a game that demanded tactical discipline and defensive resilience.

Makutano FC lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, a setup designed to balance defensive solidity with attacking creativity. The back four consisted of two full-backs tasked with both defensive duties and supporting wide attacks, while the two central defenders focused on maintaining a strong defensive line. Ahead of them, the double pivot midfielders were expected to shield the defence and recycle possession efficiently. The three attacking midfielders were positioned to exploit spaces between the lines, providing service to the lone striker who was the focal point of the attack. This formation required the wide attacking midfielders to track back and assist the full-backs, while the central attacking midfielder was charged with linking play and creating goal-scoring opportunities.

The substitutes bench was unpopulated for this fixture, meaning the starting eleven were expected to see the match through without fresh legs coming on.

The first half was a cagey affair, with both sides probing cautiously but neither able to break the deadlock before the interval. The defensive organisation on both sides was evident, and the midfield battle was intense but lacked clear-cut chances. The referee maintained control throughout, with a performance rated as competent, ensuring the game flowed without unnecessary interruptions.

As the second half unfolded, Makutano FC gradually asserted more control, pressing higher up the pitch and increasing the tempo. Their efforts paid off when Jere Jere, who would go on to be named Player of the Match, made a decisive contribution that ultimately secured the victory. His influence was felt across the pitch, combining defensive work rate with attacking impetus, and he proved pivotal in unlocking the opposition’s defence.

Kathua FC, despite their best efforts, were unable to find a way through Makutano’s disciplined defensive setup. Their attempts to equalise were thwarted by resolute defending and a goalkeeper who remained alert throughout. The match ended with Makutano FC holding on to their slender lead, much to the delight of the 100 spectators present.

In summary, Makutano FC’s tactical approach and the standout performance of Jere Jere ensured they took all three points in a match where chances were at a premium. The 4-2-3-1 formation paid dividends, providing the structure needed to control the game and frustrate their opponents. This victory will surely boost Makutano FC’s confidence as they look ahead to their next fixtures.
