Match Report y Club Secretary Matt Eagles:

Paul Richardson scored a fantastic individual goal for Mary Dendy

Two of the form sides met at Torkington Park with High Lane facing Mary Dendy  and it was the home side that eventually ran out 5-2 winners .  Man of the match was South African born full back Tyler Eiselt who provided three assists for High Lane  but it was really  tactical changes by both clubs that changed the balance of play in the second half after Dendy were leading 2-1 at half time. High Lane’s opening goal after only two minutes was rather fortuitous after a huge throw from the touch line by Eiselt found its way into the net via Dave Wilde and the shin of Dendy defender Shaun Cunningham but Dendy fought back and a towering header at the far post by Martin Whitehead from an Ian Wood  corner made it 1-1.

Haywood makes it 3-2 to High Lane

Three minutes later and Dendy took the lead, maverick striker Paul Richardson jinking along the eighteen yard box with the ball on his left foot suddenly changed direction and side footed the ball past a bemused Ben Hall in goal who was totally wrong footed .The game changed on the hour mark when High Lane deservedly equalised with an identical goal to their first . A huge throw from Tyler Eiselt was bundled in at the far post by George Mitchell.  Ant Haywood made it 3-2 with a powerful right foot finish  with just eleven minutes remaining to atone for a horrible miss with his left foot minutes earlier and Mitchell added his second with an unstoppable finish from close range after a superb cross field pass from Eiselt  and Haywood grabbed his second of the game and High Lane’s fifth with the final kick of the game . The only down side of an otherwise excellent game was an injury to Dendy striker Danny Vickers who will require  a plastic surgeon to stitch up his mouth after catching an accidental  stray elbow in an aerial challenge  late in the second half .

Match Reoprt by Dendy Assistant Manager Dave Vickers:

A good first half battle where Dendy went in at 2-1 up came apart in the second half as the fitness of High Lane and their winning of most balls in the air gave a weary Dendy a defeat. The score line didn't show the effort Dendy put in and until it went 4-2 the game was close. High Lane took advantage of a narrow pitch and always looked dangerous on throws and dead ball...s. Second half Dendy never seemed to feed the front and from early on it looked like High Lane were getting stronger and Dendy were getting weaker. Matt Martin gave his all for the team and impressed again. To be honest i didn't want to change the team but Dendy looked to be struggling for legs. I thought Adam's fitness at the end helped keep it close until the end. Disappointment at the end as Geoff limped off and Dan got a elbow in mouth causing a cut lip which requires stitching now by a plastic surgeon on Monday. The team looked like they had been in a battle at the end and hopefully we will not have many games as hard as this. I had to take Dan to A and E after so missed the pub votes. I would have given man of the match to Adam for fitness until the end. The car seemed to vote for Matty Martin as man of the match. Donkey got to be Matt for being late.
