Match report by clubman of the year David Vickers

MARY DENDY 5 TARPORLEY VICS 5

half time Mary Dendy 0 Tarporley Vics 2

How to start this report on this amazing game.
When i arrived i could see we had a decent side out even without our keeper who has changed the season round when it comes to conceding goals.
It was good to see SI LEE and TOMMY WAKEFIELD back in a Dendy shirt.

The first half was a game of missed chances and Dendy had at least three good chances to take the lead all put wide by the normally deadly Tom Wake. With only ten minutes of the half left it was a Tarporley who took the lead as their wide player skipped past Adam and squared it across goal for their player to tuck it in at the near post. With seconds to half time Dendy were caught in possession just out side the box and Tarporley made them pay making it 2-0 at the half.

It was not a disheartened half time talk because of the chances Dendy had missed against what i thought was a good footballing team. At the back they looked at their weakest so the second half we needed our strikers to make them count.

The all important third came for Tarporley and not as hoped by Dendy and i started to worry all the good play and hard work for Dendy was going to come to nothing but a heavy defeat for Dendy.
Suddenly luck turned Dendy's way as Scott clearly offside was set off by the half way line to break at the goal for a one on one with the keeper. He slipped the ball past the goalkeeper and it was 3-1. My thoughts were if we can keep it tight we will have a respectable scoreline. But in what seemed like no time Tommy Wake had scored into the bottom corner after beating the defence from the left. Not long after he did the same again but this time squaring it for Scott to score his second. With the score 3-3 i was hoping it would stay that way with only about 10 mins left.
It was not to be the end of the goals as a cheap free kick given away out wide for a push was crossed in and headed in.
With the score 4-3 to Tarporely Dendy had nothing to lose but to push forward as their was only about 5 mins left. As Dendy pressed with a dead ball Tarporely won the ball back broke quickly and made it 5-3 and i thought that was it. Well done for making it a game Dendy.
But how wrong was i as a mad few minutes saw the luck and ref coming to Dendy's aid with Tarporley's defenders and goalkeeper complaining about a foul that wasn't given they failed to play to the whistle and a stunning shot from Kronnie from just into the Tarporley half seemed to float in the air for an age before dropping into the empty net and with a couple of mins left it was 5-4 and Tarporley were rattled. More or less straight from the kick off Dendy won the ball and pressed for the equaliser. A free kick was won just outside the box. I though please Ian don't put to much on it. He did and it sailed out. I thought that was it but no the ref had his hand up and much to the sidelines amazement he had given Dendy a penalty for pushing in the box.

Up stepped Tommy Wake who with seconds to go and the away side trying to put him off smashed it into the goal to make it 5-5 and the end to an amazing game.

Man of the match was Tommy Wakefield at times he beat the Tarporley defence on his own. His cool head and finishing in the second half was the difference.

Donkey was someone called Dave Vickers. His OCD made take up the cones before they were used and he kept being told off by the ref for doing the line all the way down not just in one half. He was looking handsome with his long beard so i am sure he will get over it.

Food was chips black pudding and spice sausage in a sauce. It was very nice
