Stockport County Women FC 2 vs 1 Masia FC U13 Segunda

Masia 1 - 2 Stockport County

Today was a lesson in who wanted it more, and for far too much of the game, it wasn’t us.

County came into today as the underdogs and IMO just rolled with it. We gave them far more respect than we should have and paid the price with two scrappy goals.

We handed Stockport their first win. Last week they lost to a team we beat with eight players, but today none of that mattered.

For the first 45 minutes we spent far too much time chasing the ball, reacting instead of anticipating, and when we did win it back, too often we just hoofed it rather than having the confidence to spot the play.

The frustrating part is that when we actually settled down and played football, we were miles the better team. We moved the ball, created problems and looked like ourselves.

Talent and ability weren’t the issue today. Intensity, bravery and willingness to compete and gamble were.

That’s the lesson we take from it.

Player of the Match: Orla

Absolutely turned up today ready to win. Unfortunately it wasn’t the game, but she won pretty much every duel she was involved in.

Cleaned everything up at the back, went above and beyond to compete for every ball and continually looked to play football.

Exactly the level of fight and intent we needed.
