Norbury Green FC 0 vs 0 EX BLUES SPITFIRES

Norbury Green U16s vs Ex Blues

Norbury Green started the game on the front foot, dominating from the first whistle with relentless pressing, high intensity and a constant threat in front of goal. Ex Blues struggled to cope with Norbury’s pressure as chance after chance began to arrive.

Within the final ten minutes of the first half, Shae reacted quickest to a loose ball, forcing a save from the goalkeeper before the rebound struck him and was somehow saved again. Artem then struck the post, before Donte also rattled the woodwork. Norbury were firmly in control and could feel unfortunate not to be at least two goals ahead at the break.

The second half saw a different Norbury side emerge, with complacency creeping into their performance and allowing Ex Blues back into the contest. Despite this, Norbury’s defensive unit remained strong, organised and compact, preventing Ex Blues from creating any clear-cut opportunities. The game became increasingly tight, with neither side creating any meaningful chances until the closing stages.

The final five minutes brought late drama as two Ex Blues players were shown red cards, one for a violent foul and the other for dissent towards the referee. Norbury had one final opportunity to snatch a winner in the last minute when Adam stepped up for a free kick on the edge of the box. Unfortunately, his effort sailed just over the crossbar before the referee blew the final whistle.
