With five games gone the Dinks have moved top of Division 5 with an impressive goal difference of 22 after dispatching Chigwell. What has been most impressive is the number of different scorers this season as Tom Davies, Tom James and Phil Holt all added their names to the list on Saturday.

On paper this should have been a tough assignment as Chigwell sat third, but the OMs scored three times in the opening 15 minutes as they clinically put the game to bed early. The first was the pick of the bunch as the ball was won at right back by George Hesketh before Max Odlum sprayed it to the left via Benji Elston, where George Simons whipped in a 45 degree ball which found James racing towards the penalty spot to head home. Holt added the second after powerfully heading home a superb corner by Davies and Dom Hutt made it three when he lashed home a half volley from just outside the box. James then made it 4-0 before half time again attacking a cross but this time poking it home with his feet. The Dinks had not really got out of second gear as they dominated possession and attacked with a speed not seen often in this division.

The second half was more of the same as Odlum finished calmly and in a near replica of the first goal Davies this time got on the end of a George Simons cross and cleverly flicked the ball over the keeper. There was still time for Hutt to get a second when presented with the ball from a goalkeepers kick and he beautifully chipped the ball from 35 yards into an empty net leaving Will Hoyle purring on the touch line. Hoyle enjoyed a 25 minute cameo in which his chest control whilst on both knees to lay a ball off to Hutt was exhibition stuff and although his pace may have gone his size still remains!

The Dinks have played some scintillating football this season in a style true to the strong traditions of those Dinks teams of the past. Great debuts from Davies and Hesketh show the squad have strength in depth and a win at Old Cholmeleians on Saturday is certainly more important to the skipper Vaughan than his impending nuptials and he is looking forward to keeping in touch with proceedings via Twitter during breaks in the service.
