Hook panthers u11 0 v 4 hook blues u12 (mom EHE, capt EH)

Another challenging game against div 1 u12 team hook blues. A
friendly, so good opportunity to try a few things. RD and RE in
goal half a game each and our new player Jasper had his first game for
panthers.

Very even first half with panthers playing some good possession
football, forward and backwards. Opportunities in first half but
chances were not taken..one too many touches around the box, when wall
passes and setting back was needed. Blues scored a well worked goal
that started from a corner. Little bit of work here as keeper was
telling players to get out, but instead we sat deep playing opposition
onside.

Second half, Panthers started off very shaky. Players not
understanding their defensive duties turned this into u8s football for
a while... Goals conceded to make it 2 and then 3 nil. During that
time Panthers still had plenty of possession but we looked wobbly when
the long balls were fired at us...whatever we tried we couldn't get a
goal, but this is linked to the fact that we seem to rely on the ball
to fall kindly to score. 4-0 was the final score.

Result not a fair reflection on a match that was at least even until
half-time..Hook Blues showed some good play in the final third, being precise, particularly with the ball out to the spare man wide. .Reality is we didn't score any goals though..I was pleased with performance, frustrated with result :-o The boys looked
comfortable against the good opposition and quite happy at the end.

Need to focus on attacking third and setting the ball as well as
defensive lines (leading to offside).

Great support thank you. This year we are going to lose plenty of
friendlies because I want the boys playing stronger teams to increase
the tempo of their play and for them to move the ball on quickly..(but
no hoofing....) We will also play with different formations that suit
the strengths of our players whilst also giving them something to
think about (uh oh I hear you say).
