Another performance where the boys should be really proud of themselves.
The mindset change, to be much more positive, the way they are battling for ball, the passing, the space they find and the determination to keep going forward.
We spoke last week about playing the game like its 0-0 at all times, be strong at the back but make sure we keep attacking. We saw this for the majority of last week's performance and this week's.
We also spoke on Tuesday about how essential it is to stay in position with the formation we play, again going through it before we kicked off. Its been designed to get the best out of the players we have, not putting square pegs in round holes, keep us strong at the back but not take away from our attack.
Last week we left a bit too much space at times, but today we made Wilden work for everything. In the first half possession seesawed back and forth. The first goal was just a good goal, the second a wonder strike while we were on top. Again, the mentality was good so we went into the second half in confident mood.
We spoke about gambling on through balls at half time but also being super aggressive in the final third, while we improved in the second half we will need to focus on this in training, especially with Tylers missile of a kick.
We pressed again from the restart and on another day could have scored a couple, hitting the post and then putting it inches wide. The third goal from the corner took a bit of life out of the boys which shows we still we have a little bit of work to do but overall everyone should take note of how were playing now and compare it to earlier in the season.
The boys were a little disappointed when they came off, Wilden were ecstatic, this shows how far the boys have come. Wilden are second in the league, only losing twice to Withymoor and Total Tekkers by 1 goal, but the difference in the teams was nowhere near that big.
I've said a few times that we've had a tough run of fixtures but the boys have stepped up and showed what we can do. We are so close to where we want to be and we can look forward to an exciting end to the season.
