Lickhill Colts Youth FC U1 5 vs 1 PS Olympic U13 South

A difficult day for us with a result that shows a much larger gap than the performance and chances created.

Another slow start and an early goal conceded put us on the back foot, but unlike last week we didn't kick on. The first half was even, the 2 goals Lickhill scored were well taken, long range hits, but we gave them space to take those chances. The second goal they scored was a similar story, good finish but too much time.

The rest of the half was very even, we were probably on top. We created multiple chances and a combination of no luck and a goal keeper having a very good game, kept us out.

We spoke at half time about going out positively, taking the game to Lickhill and we bossed them for the next 15 minutes, creating chance after chance, complete one way traffic. Again, a mixture of bad luck, the bar and a goal keeper that was having the game of his life kept us out.

The third goal came against the run of play, caught out on a counter while we were pushing forward and that sapped the belief and energy from the boys for the next 10 minutes, resulting in us on the end of some poor goals. 9 minutes between the third and fifth echoed back to issues we had previously and we'd hoped we'd eradicated, Tyler made some wonderful saves during this period. Credit to the boys though, they pushed on till the end, scoring a much deserved goal and what should have been a second and finished on the front foot.

Overall a disappointing day in terms of result but plenty of positives and work to do. Not everything is going to go our way but we can control our attitude and communication with each other. Mistakes will be made, even Messi isn't perfect but how we respond to adversity and problems will define our season.
