Home league match played on 17 March 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

After beating Coven twice before, Phoenix were fairly confident they could produce the goods again and steer themeslves towards the middle of the table.

Coven however were playing their final game of the season and could really do with a win to cement their position as runners up behind Wednesfield Pheseant as Churchill hunt them down.

The only change to the Phoenix side saw Dan come back in at left midfield, meaning Phoenix started with the side that hadn't lost for a couple of games now.

Both sides started brightly, with both teams seeing plenty of the ball. Phoenix though were probably the better of the two and created the best of the chances. Gibson was using his long throw too good effect and when the ball fell to Adam he attempted an audacious volley on the turn, that the keeper just managed to tip over the bar as it was heading for the top left corner.

Gibson was next too have a go at goal himself, from a tight angle on the left hand side, leaning back he could only put his shot over the bar when, he probably had time to take a touch and set himself for a better effort. Again from a similar position he trid to side foot past the keeper into the bottom right but his shot was straight at the keeper, again had he taken a touch it may have been a different outcome.

Coven on the other hand had few chances and Ade never really had to work hard. Shots that he faced were mostly off target and one's that he had to save were fairly comfortbale for him.

Hald way through the half Nippa was sufferring with his calf and looked like he might have to go off, but he battled on to the half time whistle.

At the break nippa could not continue and Phil was brought on to replace him. Daz took up Nippa's position and Craig moved to left back and Phil slotted in at Right back. With Nippa leaving the pitch this seemed to favour Coven and they began to take advantage of a few gaps that started to appear in the defence.

An attack down Coven's left hand side led to the opening goal a low cross, across the face of goal was met by the attacker and gave Ade no chance of keepeing it out.

Phoenix tried to hit back a shot from Rich Booth was the only real attempt and that was put just over the bar from outside the box.

But it was coven who got the next goal, this time coming from the right hand side. Again the ball was crossed and the ball fell to the feet of the attacker central to the goal. he had the time to pick his spot and coven went 2-0 up.

Phoenix did not let their heads drop though, reming themselves that they had come from behind to beat Coven last time and they were given a glimmer of hope as a free kcik from Daz was put into the box and the ball fell to the feet of Adam and from 4 yards out he made no mistake, scoring his 3rd goal against Coven in as many games.

Phoenix were forced to make another sub as Graham limped off with injury and John came on to replace him. We now know that the injury is to put Graham out for the rest of the season as he has damaged his knee ligaments, something Phoenix really didnt need.

As the game drew to a close Phoenix missed chances to put the game level. Another long throw from Gibson fell to parker and from 6 yards out he could only shoot at the keeper, Gibson headed over from about 8 yards and parker again from the adge of the box could only shoot over too.

So it wasnt to be for Phoenix today, despite playing well they were beaten by the team that look like they will finish second in the league. Phoenix will look to the next three games as all games that they can win and will work hard to do so, but unfortuantely will have to do it without their regular CB.
