Home league match played on 21 February 2016.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

We arrived at the heath expecting a tough game against Oxted and the first half proved to be just that. We started on top forcing a few saves from the keeper early on and looked in good shape before making the breakthrough when Sammy B picked the ball up and played one across the face of the goal and Mikey snuck in at the far post and tucked it away. After looking on top Oxted were able to score 3 within a 15 minute spell, the first coming from a rebound after an excellent save from Lovell before a cut back across goal for their 2nd. Lewi then made a rash challenge in the box which was a clear penalty and despite Lovell going the right way he was unable to reach the ball before it made it's way into the corner. We had our chances throughout that spell though forcing the keeper into many saves and Driver went close with a thunderous volley which would have sent the Heath into raptures (had to get it in... soz, not soz). Then came the turning point of the game when just before half time Mikey went face first into the mud in the box and we were given a penalty which Sam stepped up to and duly obliged in the right hand corner. After that we went into half time rejuvenated and knew we were back in this game as we'd been on top for most of the match. The 2nd half wasn't much different from the first but we slowly chipped away at the Oxted defence and finally got a breakthrough when Sam was played in by Tulley and despite the offside flag being raised Sam lobbed the keeper from range and the referee gave it as he believed that Sam was clearly onside. As with the first game Oxted's heads dropped significantly and we sniffed blood and went in for the kill with Hames replacing a weary Driver up top. The 4th came from an over the top through ball from Dean and Mikey used his pace to significant effect to get through 1 on 1 and finish well. Oxted had their chances but Lovell was equal to everything they could throw at him and despite some pressure from them late on the game was buried when with 10 minutes to go Goddard played a long ball from the back which found hames who shrugged off the last man and dinked one into the far corner and he also scored the 6th in very similar fashion when Sammy B played an over the top through ball which released hames down the left hand side of the box and he dinked it into the far right corner once again. A huge win for us against a solid team, we knew that if we got on top that they would down tools and were able to come out on top. Charlwood done us a huge favour beating Hamsey which leaves us 7 points clear of them in 2nd place and we have a real opportunity to finish 2nd if we can win both our last 2 games or even top if Godstone faulter twice. MOTM is a tricky one, Hames did well scoring 2 late on and Sammy B and Mikey both had great games out on the wing, the defence did their job quietly and efficiently being assisted by Tulley in front of them but Lovell was a different character in goal, a completely different attitude to the game and made some fantastic saves, especially the one before the first goal and made a fair few in the 2nd half. No game next week as teams catch up so a well deserved week off.
