After a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Langley Rams Head Sacriston lined up for this game with an attacking 4-3-3 formation in a bid to get back to winning ways.

Sacriston started the game well and were slowly moving through the gears when Winter put them 1-0 up after 10 minutes, Renwick dribbling the ball to the by-line and played it across the face of goal for Winter to tap into the empty net.

With the front three looking dangerous it was 2-0 on 20 minutes when Renwick crossed low from the right hand side which found Winter at the near post, who squared for Luke to tap into the net passed the keeper.

Sacriston were now completely dominating the game and it should have been 3-0 when Davey Wardle's excellent through ball met Tom's run beyond the last defender and he took the ball towards goal and squared it to Renwick who somehow managed to blaze the ball well over the bar when faced with an open goal from inside the six yard box. A matter of minutes later Renwick was at it again when Tom's ball in behind the defence wasn't dealt with by the opposition defence and resulted in Renwick being one on one with the keeper, Renwick stayed calm, took it round the keeper and when faced with another open goal tap in managed to blaze high and wide once more!

Sacriston continued to dominate the game and had numerous other good chances to extend their lead before the half and it wouldn't be a match report if I didn't mention a Chalky miss somewhere in it. The centre half latching onto a near post cross and coming close to his first goal but unfortunately his strike hit the side netting, four games left for that elusive first goal!

With half time approaching it was Gav who finally extended Segga's lead with one of the goals of the season; the Bede Lodge keeper's clearance was low and hard and was landing towards the feet of Gav who smashed it first time from 40 yards putting a good old fashioned 'left to right' on the ball leaving the keeper with absolutely no chance and resulting in Gav wheeling away Suarez style.

Half time came and Sacriston were now playing up hill against the wind but were still looking very comfortable in the game and made it 4-0 when Renwick's cross from the corner of the box found Winter at the back post who looped his header excellently over the keeper and into the far corner to seemingly kill off the game.

Sacriston then made a couple of changes with Dan replacing Tom at right back on 60 minutes and Fozzy coming on for Renwick shortly after.

Bede Lodge pulled a goal back on 70 minutes when Sacriston failed to clear the ball and the Bede Lodge striker drilled his shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Sacriston scored another great goal shortly after with Winter linking up well with Luke down the right hand side resulting in the latter drilling across goal to find Shaun 'Javier Hernandez' Forster in the box who Cruyff flicked the ball passed the goal keeper at the near post for another great finish from the super sub!

Unfortunately minutes later Fozzy joined Renwick in the nominations for miss of the season when Luke skinned the keeper and squared for Fozzy who somehow missed the ball when faced with the open goal!

Following this miss was what could only be described as one of the worst 15 minutes of the season with some sloppy defending resulting in a Bede Lodge striker finding himself in space and with the referee waving away the offside appeals curled the ball into the corner making it 5-2.

Bede Lodge were now piling on the pressure and Davies made an excellent save out of the top corner to prevent another goal; however from the resulting corner Bede Lodge almost scored again but for some dogged defending in a goalmouth scramble including a fantastic stop on the line from Ben.

Adam Wilson then replaced Ben to try and give us some fresh legs but a soft freekick was given away just outside the box on 85 minutes and the striker’s drilled effort was low and hard at Davies and it somehow managed to squeeze under the keeper for 5-3

Some further soft defending resulted in Bede Lodge getting a fourth when the ball over the top found its way to the striker and with Davies slow off his line resulted in a 50/50 style clash with the keeper and the striker got the rub of the green and tapped the ball into the empty net.

Incredibly in a game complete dominated by Segga it was now 5-4 but thankfully there was just seconds remaining and Sacriston managed to see the game out with no further trouble.

MoM goes to Tom who was solid defensively and offered a good attacking option down the right hand-side; but also partly because he was brought off at 4-0 and didn't play a part when things went a little tits up in the last 20 minutes!

The main thing was getting the 3 points and we now move on to Ushaw Moor away on Sunday in search of another victory.
