Home league match played on 04 May 2014.

With Sacriston now champions and Fram already relegated both sides came into this game looking to end very different seasons on a positive note. Sacriston made a number of changes for the game to give a number of lads who have been unlucky to find themselves on the bench in recent weeks a run out.

The game started slowly with Fram slightly on top but neither side looked like creating any real openings at this stage. Sacriston got the opener on 20 mins when Fozzy's corner was cleared at the front post and the ball fell to Dan who crossed high towards the far post and found Renwick who took a touch and drilled the ball across goal, only to be tapped in by the opposition defender. Possibly an own goal but we'll credit it to Renwick as it may have snuck in.

Fram continued to press and were seemingly targeting Adam in at left back but were getting very little joy out of the younger, more skilful of the Wilson brothers. However they did get a deserved equaliser on 30 minutes when they took a short corner and the opposition players cross-come-shot somehow managed to trickle through several players and find its way into the corner, an extremely soft goal to concede.

Segga took the lead again before half time when Gav's corner was caught by the keeper who got a sly dig in the back by Renwick and dropped the ball to feet of Finchy who tapped it into the net to the disgust of his centre back partner Chalky who was clearly devastated it wasn't him.

The second half begun and Sacriston continued to look a little sluggish with Fram unlucky not to get back on level terms hitting the post and bar early on in the half. Segga then made a couple of changes with Winter coming on for Burnsy and Luke replacing Fozzy on the 60 minute mark. Chalky was then brought off shortly after ending the season without goal, but has promised a flurry of goals early next season so that's something to look forward to. He was replaced by Summers who had now played in every single game of Sacriston's season, a fantastic achievement from the big centre half who had doubts whether he would play at all this year and was clearly a big miss last season.

Fram were now starting to tire and Sacriston were exploiting the gaps more and Renwick made it 3-1 when Fram's centre half's poor touch was pounced upon by the league's top scorer who rounded the keeper and passed the ball into the empty net.

Sacriston's deadly duo then proceeded to miss two sitters with Luke blasting an open goal wide and Renwick turning beautifully in the box to take three defenders out the game before scuffing the ball wide from the six yard box.

Winter then sealed the victory shortly before the end latching onto Renwick's pass and his right foot strike went over the keeper and into the far corner to add to his impressive tally for the season.

The final whistle went and Sacriston popped open the numerous bottles of champagne before the celebrations and drinks continued in the club and then long into the night at Richardson Towers for a number of the lads.

Man of the match went to Adam Wilson who I can't recall ever being beaten down the left hand side and played the ball well throughout the game. The following quote then came from the young pup in the club soon after:

'I'm the number 3. Fuck Dean Smith, he's had his time'.

All in all a fantastic day and excellent season from Segga who have won some big games throughout the season including doing the double over The Britannia and of course the #2-1 victory over the cricket club early on in the season. The return of Renwick mid-way through the season certainly made us much more dangerous and took some of the pressure off Luke who had contributed the majority of our goals during the first half of the season.

Winning 14 of our last 15 league games since our mini blip over the Xmas period was the main reason for winning the league and Segga will look to take that form into division one next season.

Thanks to the club for putting food on after the game, and having £125 behind the bar was certainly appreciated by the lads who could get used to ordering pints 'on the slate'.

Just the small matter of Blackpool, the Ramside and the presentation night to look forward to now before it all begins again with the 2014/15 season.

Up the club.
