Away league match played on 15 April 2014.
Kicked off at 6:30 PM

With three games to go Sacriston headed into the game top of the league and a game of two halves saw them run out 6-1 winners against Houghton Mill All Stars.

Houghton playing their final game of the season clearly wanted to end the season on a high and started the game strongly. They took the lead on 10 minutes when the left backs ball down the wing appeared to go out of play and come back in resulting in Tom switching off and when the linesman never flagged the striker had time on the ball down the left, he then cut inside and got the look of the bounce when Andy White put a tackle in before firing a great finish into the top corner.

The game then became an even contest and both sides looked a threat, Sacriston having two great chances to pull the game level with Luke and Renwick both hitting the post from close range when they perhaps should have scored. Whilst at the other end Houghton were looking a constant threat with the left winger and striker constantly linking up dangerous through the first half.

The final ball just wasn't falling for Segga and half time came and it was clear that there was very little width offered by Sacriston, with the three upfront playing too high up the field and often leaving the fullbacks vulnerable to the counter.

Segga tempered with the formation slightly with two of three strikers operating slightly deeper on the wings to try and get them in the game more and get us on the front foot; this change worked and Sacriston started much more positively and on 50 minutes Davey Wardle won the ball in midfield and played Renwick in one on one and the striker poked the ball coolly into the bottom corner with the outside of his foot for 1-1.

This goal sparked the away side into life and what followed was a 20 minute spell of complete dominance all over the park, with Sacriston first to every ball and looking much more dangerous going forward. A penalty put Sacriston ahead shortly after when Gav drove into the box and was pulled back by the defender and the referee pointed to the spot for quite a soft penalty which Luke smashed into the top left corner.

The third going game just minutes later when Dean under clear instructions from the side-lines not to take the corner after his absolutely abysmal delivery moments early, ignored instructions and curled his corner in perfectly to the back post for Renwick to leap high and nod home powerfully past the keeper; yet another assist for Dean as he loves to point out!

Sam then turned provider shortly after picking up the ball down the left wing and beating his man before curling a first class cross low into the box for Luke to tap home into the bottom corner to make it 4-1

Adam Wilson then replaced Dean at left back and Segga didn't have to wait long for their fifth when Gav's ball over the top found Renwick just inside the box and Sacriston's answer to Cristiano Ronaldo cut inside and struck a fierce shot with his left foot to beat the keeper at his near post taking his tally to 75 goals in 51 competitive games for the club.

Sacriston then made their final changes with Dan replacing Andy White in centre mid and Fozzy replacing Winter upfront and the final goal of the game came 10 minutes from time when Davey Wardle curled a beautiful cross from deep towards the back post for Luke to direct his header excellently back across goal and into the far corner to seal his hatrick and Segga's sixth.

Houghton offered little threat in the second half and some good positioning from Davies kept the strikers at bay when long balls beyond the defence proved the main threat for Houghton during this half; the remainder of the game was pretty uneventful with Sacriston spraying the ball around calmly to run the clock down until the whistle went.

Man of the match goes to Luke with the striker playing an excellent game and netting an impressive second half hatrick along with strike partner Renwick.

A huge win for Sacriston who remain top and have two more tough games to go before the season draws to a close.
