Riviera United 1st 4 vs 4 Salcombe Town 1st

In an under par performance Salcombe went out of the Senior cup on penalties to lower division opponents.

Riviera went into a two goal lead in the first half, shell shocked Salcombe got back into by half time with goals from Milton & Nolan, 2-2 at half time. Despite dominating the second half Salcombe could not get the goals to get the result and towards the end debutant goalkeeper Jim Weeks made crucial saves to keep them in the tie.

At the start of extra time Riviera scored to put themselves in front and added another five minutes later. Things looked all up for Town but they were given a lifeline just before the break when Milton was fouled in the box and Yeoman converted the penalty.

Town threw everything at Riviera in the second breakthrough but could not make the breakthrough . Five minutes before the end sub Louie Martin showed calmness belying his years to beat his man in the penalty area and finish calmly to get Salcombe back on terms yet again. Yeoman had the chance to win the game in the last few minutes when through on goal but could not get his shot away so the game went to penalties.

Riviera scored first but Salcombe were immediately under pressure when Nolan's kick was saved , Riviera then scored to put themselves 2 up , Stallard put his away then Keeper Weeks made a good stop to bring Town back In to it.

Giffen and Yeoman and the Riviera player then scored

leaving Massey to take the fifth and final penalty to keep Salcombe in it, sadly his shot was saved putting Riviera through 4-3
