Away league match played on 21 November 2009.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

After last weeks good performance from Grey Horse Over 40's with a 5 - 0 win Manager Martin Joyce kept the same formation of 3-5-2 away at Thornley Celtic. The first half saw Horse dominate play right from the off, with Neil Bannister  dictating possession play in centre midfield. Many chances on goal were created from good passing play but were wasted in and around the opositions area.  Attacking midfield play from Darren Foster and Mark Greenwood caused the home team plenty of problems linking up with the Horse forwards and wide men. Darren Foster rattled the under side of the Thornley crossbar before John Myers opened  the scoring midway through the half. Picking up the ball on the right flank he dribbled inside and unleashed an unstoppable curled left foot shot into the back of the net from the edge of the area. Thornley only had one headed goal chance from a corner in the half and at the midway break Horse led 0 - 1. The second half was a repeat of the first, Horse playing good football to create goal chances around the box which were again fluffed and this time Greenwood hitting the crossbar with a cracking drive. Horse did  score again after 60 minutes of play when Myers scored his second, a carbon copy  of his first goal to put the Horse 2 nil up and in the comfort zone. The nearest the home team came to scoring was when keeper Stuart Timmiss dallied on the ball and his  attempted clearance was charged down by a Thornley striker leaving Timmiss to rush back towards the goal line before the ball trickled just wide of goal. A comfortable win  that could have resulted in a more emphatic scoreline from the amount of possession  and good play from the Horse players.
