First Half

This game was made known to the SESC team that key players would be rested and priority will be given to those who have been sticking through the season with the team. In any case, the total number of players who RSVPed is 13.

With Jalil spearheading the attack with Zam supporting just behind him and in midfield, Gary on the right, Jun Kai on the left and Khoo Tian partnering player manager, Fahmy in the middle.

In defence, Syafiq deployed in defence for the first time with Ritz on the right and Norman partnering Boon in the central defence.

The youngest man on the blue side, Jun Kai made his season debut after his successful trial.

The Spurs SG team started the game with only 10 men but that did not deter them from competing against the SESC team fresh from their 3-2 win over the Man City SG side two fortnights ago.

SESC had a few attacking moves that created from the hardworking midfielders foursome of Jun Kai, Fahmy, Gary & Khoo Tian. However the Spurs defence were reading each move effectively well.

At the 27th min mark, a nice teamwork goal by the Spurs SG team following a rushed clearance from SESC gave the home team the lead through a brilliantly taken low shot from their #28.

The Evertonians then tried to play their usual game but had to be on their guard as their midfielders had the better of possession and composure to frustrate the blue Merseysiders.

The half ended at 1-0 and nothing much apart from the goal to note.

Second Half

The game resumed with Giles swapped out with Ronnie taking over in goal.

Much of the play were very similar to the first half approach with both teams trying to stamp on the authority but neither really made anything out of it in the earlier exchanges.

However midway through the half, a clearance from a Spurs SG cross was punted into their half by Boon with Khoo Tian harassing their midfield forcing them into a backpass to their last man. However he was caught unaware and his attempted clearance was chased down by Jalil who got the ball following a rebound. He then coolly chipped the keeper who got a slightest of touch of the ball but could not redirect the ball anywhere except turning around to see the ball dipped well into goal, 1-1.

The Spurs team then tried to remain calm and play their usual game but their progress into the box were mostly thwarted by the reliable Norman in the middle. SESC also tried to do a comeback show like they did in the last game but their efforts at goal were few and far between after that equaliser.

15 minutes later, against the run of play, Spurs SG restored their lead and their wide midfielder collected the ball from his central midfielder and appeared to dribble the ball into the ball but instead, he took a swipe aiming at the far post with Norman standing about 2 meters away. The ball took a bounce on the slippery ground and gave Ronnie no chance who also slipped in his attempt to dive low to the left, 2-1.

SESC boys then tried to restart the game quickly and find another goal but in one of their corners, the ball was cleared by their defender to the wide right midfielder who could not beat Ritz marking so dribbled towards the half way line and made an aerial lop ball towards their striker who was through on goal beating the last man, Norman and Boon. As the ball was taking its second bounce he made a well connected volley towards the goal with only Ronnie to beat and the ball looked destined to end up in the goal again but it was denied with Ronnie’s full stretched one-handed save to put the ball just over the bar for a corner.

The corner came to nothing and a long clearance made by the Evertonian defence which the referee promptly blew his whistled for full time.

Well, the effort from the SESC boys were there but the quality of most of the play was lacking. Probably knowing that win or lose, the team league standings will not be affected.
