St. Leonard's Social II 4 vs 1 JC Tackleway II

A performance of two halves saw Social claim all 3 points in a 4-1 win against Tackleway II. Social never got going in the first 30 minutes, due to a combination of poor play and Tackleway pressing and probing at every opportunity. After 7 minutes Tackleway got the goal they deserved from the penalty spot. The penalty was won and converted by former Social players James Glavin and Sean Noble respectively and Social had it all to do.

The comeback started pretty quickly though with Mikey “The Pug” Holland’s playing his first forward pass of the season to Tony Atkin who continued his impressive strike rate with a great finish. Half time 1-1.

A good cop, bad cop team talk followed with a few carefully chosen words which saw Social come out a different side. The ball was moving a lot more fluently and with a purpose and Social quickly went 2-1 up with a penalty that was won and converted by the in form Tony Atkin. With that Social took control and dominated the game. Ash McCann, a nuisance all game, finally got the goal he deserved before also hitting home a screamer from 30 yards to make it 4-1.

In the end a comfortable win but also a wake up call for tougher tests to come. MoM goes to Mikey Holland’s who was different class this week (drugs test passed) and Donkey of the Week fell to Oscar Hammond for missing a penalty that took 3 minutes to land in the keepers hands. #socialarmy
