St Michaels F C 6 Dartford Social 2

St Michaels renewed rivalries with Dartford Social who they met and beat on the first day of the season. The previous game had been a physical encounter and St Michaels were prepared for another tough battle to keep their place at the top of the table.

As expected Dartford Social started aggressively trying to intimidate the younger St Michael’s team. St Michaels, however, were matching anything that their opposition were trying and it took a great save from the Dartford Social keeper to deny Danny Baptiste opening the scoring. On 13 minutes against the run of play there was a mistake in the home defence which led to a volleyed goal which put the away team into an undeserved lead. Good efforts followed from Arran Amer and Adam Fahy which enabled St Michaels to regain the ascendancy and it came as no surprise when in the 27th minute, after a great solo run by Fahy the resulting cross was met by Amer to make it 1 all. It was only a matter of time before St Michaels would score again and in the 33rd minute a corner from Fahy was met by captain Sam Meade who planted a firm header into the net. A few minutes later a great long ball out of defence by Connor Reardon found Jack Meade who buried the ball past the advancing keeper.

H T : 3 1 to St Michaels.

The second half started at a much slower pace with neither side offering much other than a poor miss by Amer when given an open goal chance. St Michaels then stepped up the pace and a good strike on the left from Mo Abarak increased the lead. 3 minutes later another fine pass from Amer led to Ben Baptiste making it 5 – 1. The game then slowed again and it was not until the 79th minute when a bad mistake by the Dartford keeper left Amer with an open goal which he cheekily got on his hands and knees and headed in. Two minutes later another mistake, this time by the home defence led to a consolation second goal for Dartford Social. The half finished without incident with the final score being: St Michaels F C 6 Dartford Social 2.

Another good performance from St Michaels which keeps their unbeaten run going and cements their position at the top of the table. Good performances from all the players with special mention to Adam Fahy whose pacy raids down the left caused Dartford non stop problems, especially in the first half when we were looking to get back into the match. Also, for the second week running, a towering performance from the captain Sam Meade who led the team by example. However, Man of the Match goes to Connor Reardon whose performance was absolutely brilliant. He won every tackle, every header and didn’t put a foot wrong throughout the game.
