Away league match played on 15 March 2014.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

Starlands travelled to sunny Warwick for a later kick off time due to the home side having an U.16 game fixtured.
The girls were already down to 10 players and we were only on the M6!

We arrived in good time, the sun was still shining and the girls were in good spirits on the back of last weeks win v Penn.
There was a buzz around the camp, which seemed to have been fuelled by my offer for the girls to go to McDonalds after the match if we won back to back games.
We'd never done it in three years so naturally I thought the money was safe !
Those that know what a rubbish tipster I am, will have lumped on. starlands win!

We kicked off with the sun behind us, and right from the off Sinead played a ball over the top turning the big Warwick defenders. They were unable to live with the pace of Amber who slotted home to make it 1-0 and score the quickest goal all season.

We looked really comfortable on the ball, with the girls keeping their positions.Early pressure led to a corner and a shot from Hannah going wide.

The ensuing goal kick was collected by Hannah in midfield and returned to Amber who again went wide.

A quick throw in from Alex to Hannah then set up Olivia's first opportunity which again went went....I started to worry that we were not going to capitalise on these opportunities and allow Warwick to get a foothold in the game.

Amber, Hannah and Olivia all had further opportunities to score but shot wide, but we were getting closer!

Then a break by Starlands set up by Sam and Laurice  feeding Alex who played a lovely through ball to Olivia on the half way line. She then went on a solo run  and slotted home  to make it 2-0.

Olivia had a further four or five chances but was thwarted by a Warwick keeper.

Then just like the last Alex fed Olivia and she went on a solo run a smashed home a great goal on an acute angle that looked impossible. It was a carbon copy of her goal against Solihull.
" Feed Olivia and She will score!"

The fourth was a pass from Hannah to Olivia who lobbed the keeper to make it 4-0

It sounds like the Olivia, Amber,Hannah and Alex show....but there was some great break up play Kiera. The defence were rock solid and holding the line high but covering for each other. They were standing the attacking player up and allowing other covering players to get back. They were playing it simple by just clearing the danger...Nice and easy...and effective.

Half time came we were 4-0 up , and so did the orders for McDonalds!!!!...it was difficult to get the girls to listen to any kind of team talk, they were all buzzing and it is great to see them enjoying themselves.
More often than not We have been at the wrong end of a beating, and it's nice for the girls to have their own moments of glory...and make the most of them.

The second Half started much the same as the first, with good interplay between Alex and Hannah.
Chloe stepped up and played the ball through to Olivia who must have taken a bribe?!....she again spared Warwicks blushes by putting it just wide as it deflected off the on rushing keeper to go for a corner.
The resulting corner kick was intercepted by Amber on the edge of the box who slipped it to Olivia, but again Megan The Angels keeper saved! However, Olivia in her determined mood followed through onto the rebound and slotted home for her fourth goal ! Making it 5-0

Both Amber and Olivia were unlucky not to add to their tally.

The defence were immense, it was great to see Sam and Chloe showing the wingers wide and then Sinead and Laurice backing up. Keeping it simple is working.
Kiera wondered a few times, but stuck to her task...and this benefitted the whole team. Some nice skills during the warm up also had the other girls impressed !

For once Holly had very little to do, but still had time to pull off one diving save and some missile kicks to set up attacks.
The big thing for me, is Holly's change in attitude...she was supporting the other girls and being really positive.... a proper Captain !

So, whilst we dominated the second half Warwick thwarted our attempts to add more goals, thanks in the main to Megan , albeit none of the Angels gave up...and their little forward up front was faster than Mr.Bolt himself !

Girl of The Game was awarded to Alex for her 2nd in as many games. She was everywhere, quick throw ins, tackles and passing Well Done!

Special mention also to Olivia for her FOUR ...again a first for us. Hafsah was the previous record holder with 3 ...strangely enough against Warwick last year.

All the girls richly deserved their McDonalds....but I don't remember including a McFlurry ?!....must be a down payment for next weeks game against our friends from Redditch.

Well played Starlands !
