Another highly competitive match against a very strong Lanarkshire side as we again faced the league champs - this time in the league opener.
Both league cup ties had been closely fought games that could have gone either way and this one was no different. This time it was Albion that got the goals at crucial times - we scored early after Emmanuel's cross was nodded back by Haris and a great hooked finish from Dan.
Lanarkshire equalised when we allowed the big CF to run through from halfway and he finished well. However we then retook the lead before halftime - a great team goal as we probed down right side before switching play to the left wing and a nice combo saw Lennox in behind for a great cross that was volleyed home by Kyle for a well deserved first goal in Albion colours.
Into the 2nd half and we scored another excellent goal. Angus and Max combining on the half way line before great work from Max who then slipped in Emmanuel for a good cross that was well finished by Haris at the back post.
We saw the game out well - with the only clear opening when Cammy lingered on a pass back that was bundled home but the ref called a fall on the initial tackle.
Credit to the boys who saw the game out well and restricted an excellent team to very few clear chances on another hot day. Missing a couple so even more pleasing. A win, draw and defeat across the 3 games for both teams seemed fair on balance of play in all matches which have all been really well contested.
MOTM - a day when everyone contributed, with the subs coming on 2nd half and maintaining our levels with good showings. Max, Ellis, Kyle and Eman all at very good levels for 90mins but Ross just edging it for another top display at centre half.
Next week we start our Scottish Cup Tournie in good form and hopefully wecloming a few players back.
