Away league match played on 30 August 2009.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Football season has come back with a bang.

After their last match of the season a 4-2 win over Star FC which sealed second spot and promotion to division 3, Stronstad would have to play some of their best football to compete with teams that make up the league.

  First Half Action

Sporting their new kit kindly donated by the clubs new sponsors Spencers Restaurant (Excellent food at a low cost) Stronstad stepped onto the pitch for the opening match of the season against Icomm FC looking to settle quickly into the league but things did not go to plan.

Straight from kick off and with barely 1 minute on the score board Stronstad found themselves 1-0 down before anyone could say Portsmouth 0 Manchester City 1 as a break down the Stronstad left saw the ball floated to the far post and the talk Icomm FC striker was there to power a header past Ian Privett to make the score 1-0.

Stronstad were rocked by this goal and could have easily been a couple of goals down early on in this encounter as Icomm FC put Stronstad under heavy pressure with some Stronstad players missing the ball and gifting Icomm FC more opportunities to attack.

When Stronstad managed to get the ball down they started to put neat passing moves together and it was from this neat attacking move saw Stronstad pull a goal back. A nice passing move saw the ball worked out to James Clarke who took control of the ball before powering into the Icomm FC box and firing an angled shot across the Icomm FC keeper and into the back of the net to give Stronstad an equaliser.

This gave Stronstad the confidences to go forward but they had to be aware of the counter attack and with Nick Crocker playing in defence and Jorge Morrison-Cooke working hard it was an end-to-end affair.

Ian Privett had to be at his best to come through a pile of legs to gather an Icomm FC corner but he was then left helpless as Icomm FC scored.

There was some debate about whether it was a corner in the first place but from the resulting corner the ball was played into the 6 yard box and the Icomm FC player beat his marker before heading into the net to make the score 2-1.

Half Time: - Icomm FC 2 Stronstad Utd 1

With the lack of firepower Stronstad were wondering where the goals would be coming from but they need not worry as Stronstad did score a second goal in the game through Dan Moore.

A long ball forward saw James Clarke get in front of his marker and despite the best efforts from the Icomm FC goalkeeper the ball was parried to Dan Moore who slotted the ball into the empty net to make the score 2-2.

This had lifted Stronstad and they looked more danger on the attack and could has scored a third goal but for an excellent save from the Icomm FC keeper as he turned over a Jorge Morrison-Cooke header from a Dan Moore free kick.

At the other end Stronstad still had to be aware of the threat of Icomm FC and on a couple of occasions Icomm FC got behind the back four of Stronstad but the final ball was poor and Ian Privett was able to clear the danger.

Icomm FC then thought they had scored winner as the first scorer for Icomm FC managed to control the ball with his hand before firing past Ian Privett but the goal was ruled out.

Just before full time a great ball from Gary Cowell released Mark Betteridge but he failed to hit the target.
