  First Match From King George

Stronstad started the brighter of the two sides with James Clarke giving the Universal left back the run around as his pace was getting him behind the back four but his final ball was cleared.

Both teams were cancelling each other out but after 20 minutes Stronstad took the lead they deserved. James Clarke ran at his marker before pulling the ball back to Steve Beech who had the simplest task of slotting the ball into the empty net from 6 yards out.

Stronstad could have easily doubled their lead on a number of occasions as Jorge Morrison-Cooke volleyed over from 6 yards out and he some how headed over from a yard out. Robert Pearson saw his shot blocked on the line and Jon Way’s long range effort went 10 yards wide as Stronstad looked to turn the screw.

As an attacking unit Universal Utd rarely tested the Stronstad back four as captain Gareth Spicer and Jorge Morrison-Cooke cleared up any thing that was thrown at them.

Stronstad were looking dangerous on the attack and they doubled their lead with another swift passing move that saw Nick Crocker get into the area before unselfishly squaring the ball to Steve Beech who slotted home to double his tally and double Stronstad’s lead.

With 5 minutes to go Stronstad got a third goal. Stronstad had forced a corner and from a Dan Moore corner David George saw his header hit the bar but Nick Crocker reacted the quickest to head the ball home via the underside of the bar to give him his first goal since September and Stronstad a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Half Time: - Stronstad Utd 3 Universal Utd 0

In the second half Stronstad continued to push for more goals but they could not break down the Universal Utd defence.
