Home league match played on 02 January 2010.
Kicked off at 1:30 PM

We scraped together a side after a couple of drop outs and got the game underway exactly as Longy mentioned.

Pagey was looking long to try and turn the fullbacks round for the first 10 mins, rarely finding the target and Loft, as he did for the whole 90 mins, was mobile up top.

After the good, comfortable start they beat us down the right wiuth a burst of pace and even though their forward lost control of the ball Pad decided to send him tumbling inside the box. A weak penalty? Yes! But it was a foul!!!

They worked down our right again soon after and played 2 one two's past the non existent 9 eyes aka John Merrick and that forced Longy to come and close the striker down but maybe went to ground too early. The striker squared and then his mate tapped in to an empty net.

2-0 and we weren't even playing badly. But as so many times this season we would surely fold.

Not this time!! We showed great character and determination to get back in the game. A few things to note was Chinders and Coyney linking well and Al was full of running.

We got back to 2-2 after Pagey missed the re-taken penalty (Cheers Giles!!!). Giles with a delicate header whilst unmarked at the back post and Dan Keeley with a a great strike after a skinning the defender TWICE. I think he should have passed it to be honest.

Second half was all us really. We bagged our 2 goals off spells of possession. It was so good to see that even though the football wasn't always brilliant we dug in and made life hard for the opposition.

They had nothing but long balls into the box that between Longy, Pad and Rich we dealt with very comfortably.

Another good win that puts us 6th in the table. Good work lads!!!!

Summary:

Longy - Great handling and distribution from throwing. Kicking was indifferent but commanded the back 4 well

Coyney - Played himslef into the game and always looked to get us playing. Good link up with Chinders

Pad - Took on board all that was said before the game. Compsed on the ball, your performance of the season. Keep it up fella

Rich - Mobile, fit, ball carrying, hard hitting defensive performance. Different class against weak opposition as you have been all season

Pagey - Attempted to put the game plan into action but never really got back in the game after the penalty miss

Chinders - Good on the ball and dropped in to help out his full back when needed. Other than a dodgy corner, distribution was very good

Greenwood - Quietly went about his business and rarely gave the ball away. Need to try and impose yourself earlier in the game as second half was much better

Al - Work rate 100% and chipped in with a vital 3rd goal. Good, solid all round performance and made lung busting runs throughout the game that his big brother tended to ignore

Dan K - 2 tidy finishes but lacked a little 11 a side positioning. Need to be tougher in the tackle and graft as you did during the last 15 mins

Loft - Good movement all day and had the better of your marker. Good workmanlike performance. Need a goal to get back in the 'Groove'

Giles - A lot of running and another goal. Went down more times than a porn star today though

Roll on Rottingdean in the cup next week. Lets fucking do 'em..
