The Sac 4 vs 1 The Donnies

A historic day for The Sac as they pick up their first win in the clubs competitive history.

The 40 minute fixture against The Donnies kicked off at 8:40pm and The Sac flew out the traps playing a high press and fast paced football.

It was obvious from the get go that The Sac were the dominant side, controlling possession and applying pressure increasingly for the first 10 minutes. This press was rewarded when Charley Badzire found the net after a pass from Zach Ellis, a goal that had been a long time in the making, and seemed almost inevitable. From there, defensive solidarity saw The Donnies unable to produce any attack of there own, and soon enough, Ellis provided again, this time for Rufus Marray, who spectacularly volleyed home an in-swinging cross.

After half time, The Donnies looked to slow the game down and control the ball. And while they were on the front foot initially, Marray darted forward, receiving another Ellis pass which ricocheted off the defenders foot, and achieved a brace, hitting it hard and low.

With the game effectively over, The Donnies snatched a goal after some miscommunication between the defenders and the keeper, although only a consolation. Just to put the nail in the coffin, Badzire scored again after dispossessing the defender. The full time whistle sounded, and The Sac had completed what many thought to be impossible, a maiden win, and that of which they did in style.

Wil Healey and Zach Ellis shared the Player of the Match award, after solid defensive contributions from Healey, and a hat-trick of assists for Ellis. This is a day to be remembered, and The Sac will keep this momentum for next weeks fixture.
