Home league match played on 03 November 2013.
Kicked off at 11:10 AM

A sunny but blustery and cold day saw the Wolves start uphill in the first half. The Hawks took advantage of the wind and slope in the early exchanges and had a shot hit the bar and another chance cleared by Nathan after Cole made a decent block.

Not long after, Nathan put in a good cross to Jacob and Dylan had a shot saved from a good pass from Ollie. After six minutes Nathan was fouled on the halfway line and Dylan played the free kick into the box where Jacob turned and placed the ball well into the right corner: 0-1.

The Hawks were attacking in numbers and William, Tom and Sam were kept busy at the back. There were lots of high balls which were difficult to deal with in the wind but Cole was dominating the penalty area and beyond and the Hawks were getting no time to finish off some good attacks. Ollie was passing the ball much better today and Dylan tried to get in a few crosses but we didn’t create too many chances as the half drew to an end.

 Half Time: 0-1

It was much easier for the Wolves in the second half with the wind behind them. Dylan had a great chance that was really well saved after a super passing move with Jacob and another went just wide a few minutes later. Cole continued his dominance at the back and William and Tom were strong in the tackle. Sam was getting a bit more time in midfield and played in a good cross to Jacob but his overhead shot was saved.

Sam then had a chance just miss after another Dylan free kick. Cole made a couple of good saves as the half wore on and with less than eight minutes remaining it seemed like the Wolves would have to hang on for a one goal win. However Ollie got a decent quick pass into the box to Dylan and though his shot was saved Jacob was quick to the rebound to slot home his second: 0-2

As the game drew to a close Dylan had a shot over the bar and Ollie had a good effort saved. With a minute to go Dylan fired in after heading down a throw in and Ollie was first to the loose ball to net the Wolves’ third: 0-3

The Wolves won the ball straight from the kick off, Ollie battled hard to retain possession after being knocked to the ground and got the ball to Dylan whose long range shot gave the Hawk’s Keeper no chance: 0-4

 Final score 0-4

This was a decent performance today against a good Hawks team who kept us at bay for large parts of the game. The passing was better today although we would have had more chances if we had passed a little bit quicker and more accurately on occasions. It was great to see Ollie and Dylan get into the box more and put the defence under pressure. Cole was at his best today with a commanding performance, having the confidence to come out of goal and get involved in defending positively. William also had a confident game and played a great back pass to Cole when under pressure. Tom had a good game and I was pleased to see him organise the defence today.
