Totteridge FC Yellows travelled to face Marlow United in a lively league away fixture at Marlow’s home ground on the morning of 8 March 2026, with kick-off at 9:55am. The match, lasting 80 minutes plus added time, ended in a thrilling 6-3 victory for Totteridge FC Yellows in an 11-a-side contest.

Totteridge lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Joshan Nijjar in goal. The defensive line consisted of Daniel Shah at right back, Muhammed Vayani and Noah Brereton as central defenders, and Rory Fairless on the left. In midfield, Sam Anderson and Tatenda Makoni held the central roles, tasked with both defensive cover and distribution. Ahead of them, the attacking midfield trio featured Nico Cox on the right, Muhammad Ali Qarni centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Adam Hussain on the left, supporting lone striker Logan Paulse. The substitutes bench included Chaise Duff.

The game burst into life within the opening minute as Muhammad Ali Qarni capitalised on a neat short pass from Nico Cox to slot home a right-footed finish inside the box, giving Totteridge an immediate advantage. However, just a minute after the tenth-minute substitution of Chaise Duff on for Cox, Marlow United responded swiftly with a goal of their own in the 12th minute, levelling the scores.

The tactical shuffle continued when Nico Cox returned to the pitch in place of Daniel Shah at right back in the 21st minute, signalling a shift in approach. This was quickly rewarded as Rory Fairless unleashed a stunning long-range strike from outside the box with his left foot in the 23rd minute, restoring Totteridge’s lead with a spectacular effort.

Two minutes later, Adam Hussain found the net from close range inside the box, expertly finishing a flicked assist from Noah Brereton, extending the lead to 3-1. Yet Marlow United were not to be outdone, pulling one back in the 26th minute to keep the contest alive.

In the 31st minute, Daniel Shah returned to the field, replacing Tatenda Makoni, adjusting the midfield dynamics. Marlow United continued to press and were rewarded with a direct free-kick goal from outside the box in the 35th minute, narrowing the gap to 4-3 as the first half drew to a close at the 40-minute mark.

Shortly after the interval, Tatenda Makoni came back on for Sam Anderson in the 41st minute, followed by Sam Anderson’s return in place of Adam Hussain nine minutes later, signalling a tactical rotation in midfield and attack.

The second half saw Rory Fairless once again take centre stage, scoring a remarkable goal directly from a corner kick outside the box in the 68th minute, demonstrating his exceptional technique and doubling Totteridge’s lead. At the same time, Adam Hussain replaced striker Logan Paulse, injecting fresh attacking impetus.

Adam Hussain continued his fine form by netting another close-range goal inside the box in the 70th minute, this time assisted by Muhammad Ali Qarni’s precise short pass, further consolidating Totteridge’s commanding position.

In the 74th minute, Logan Paulse returned to the pitch, substituting Nico Cox, as Totteridge sought to maintain their attacking threat. Rory Fairless completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute with another stunning direct goal from a corner kick outside the box, once again using his left foot to devastating effect.

Rory Fairless’s outstanding performance, highlighted by three spectacular goals including two direct from corners and a long-range strike, earned him the player of the match accolade. Totteridge FC Yellows’ attacking prowess and tactical flexibility proved decisive in this high-scoring encounter, sealing a memorable 6-3 victory on the road against a resilient Marlow United side.
