Home league match played on 27 October 2012.
Kicked off at 9:00 AM

As the boys had spent all week preparing for the challenge that was Carolina Select, it would have been easy to neglect or forget about the threat that Screaming Eagles would provide us and the potential banana skin that this came could be.

The boys were warned to not take the opposition for granted and to make sure that they remained focused and pushed hard.

The game started with a slow pace as Porto were once again caught a little napping. This didn't stop them taking the lead early on though with a well worked goal. As the score stayed one to zero for a good while, it was a counter attack from MYSA that levelled up the game and gave Porto something to think about. Porto were getting the chances, but every shot seemed to find it's way into the hands of the MYSA GK. Porto retook the lead again when David worked the ball well to Kevin who notched to continue his hot streak. But again, MYSA were not done and came back at Porto with another similar goal. When the Porto defence failed to clear a routine ball, the MYSA side got through the Porto back line and with a little luck scored the equaliser.

As the half time approached Porto were trying to get back in the lead, but their efforts were just finding their way to the keeper.

As the boys came in, it was a case of the same ol' chat with the Porto boys about working hard off the ball and supporting all over the field.

As the second half got going, so did Porto. Within minutes of the restart, Porto were back in the lead when Remi and David combined well to go clean through on the keeper to notch the 3rd of the game. This opened the flood gates for Porto and MYSA started to fade fast. Third became four with a well worked solo goal from Remi to notch his second of the game. As the Porto were on a roll, another goal came from some good fast wing play as Cole managed to wriggle through the midfield and send Max through for a well taken shot from distance that looped over the keeper. With the game won and MYSA beat, Coach called for the Porto boys to start putting Sundays tactics into play and to focus on their roles. But despite that, Porto were not finished and Remi completed a well earned hat trick. Then finally one of the goal of the games as Cole picked up the ball in midfield, worked his way round a midfield player and sent a shot into the top right corner of the goal to wrap up a impressive performance and to wrap up all 3 points for the Porto boys.

Coaches Corner

A case of job done was very much the after thought here. A potential spanner in the works was firmly put to rest. With our finishing, defensive strength and late surges becoming trademarks in our games, the boys can truly be confident that success and accolades are all just around the corner! Well done!!
