Home league match played on 30 December 2012.
Kicked off at 10:45 AM

The UNITS took on B&Bladder back in league action after a 2 week break. Cuzer had the rarity of a 16 man squad to choose from this morning and handed the returning Jay, Ashton & Newton immediate returns to the starting line up as we set up with
Mala, 2Ton, Danny, Eggy, Taylor, Ashton, Newton, Coco, Jay, Hunter & Pountney
Subs were Ross, Ginge, Acer, Turner and Kieron P

The UNITS defensive injury curse got even further beyond a joke after only 1 minute today when Eggy picked up a bad looking calf injury and couldn't carry on, Cuzer bringing on Kieron Power for his UNITS debut at full back and moving 2ton to Centre half

Pre-game the message was for the UNITS to get back to what we do best, high tempo attacking football and we were good to that in the first 10 minutes when we zipped the ball around the B&B box. It was the returning Ashton who opened the scoring when Hunter laid the ball back to him 20 yards out and he rifled a left footer into the bottom corner

It was Ashton again who got our 2nd only 5 minutes later when Jay put a deep cross to the back post, Coco cushion volleyed the ball back to Ashton who ran onto the ball and slammed it home from 10 yards

It was one way traffic against a limited but committed B&B side and it was Newton who put us 3-0 up on the half hour mark when he siezed on a loose ball in the box, showed good feet to beat his man and rifle home into the bottom corner from 15 yards

The UNITS then had their made 10 minutes and almost gave B&B a way back into the game, firstly Mala claimed a routine cross only to try a quick throw to Taylor which didn't come off, Tayls conceding a free kick as a result with the B&B player bending the ball into the top corner from 25 yards

Moments later Tayl's was caught in possession and in trying to win the ball back up ended the B&B striker in the box yet Mala made amends with a fine penalty save to his right

It was left to Pountney to put a fairer scoreline reflection on the UNITS dominance in the first half when Coco cut inside and played a fine 40 yard cross field ball to Lewis who raced away from the B&B back line and slotted into the bottom corner

HT UNITS 4 v 1 Bull and Bladder

Bar the mad 10 minutes Cuzer was delighted with the first half as we returned to something like what we're about as a side, the message was no let up and to keep pushing for goals

We started the 2nd half very well and on 50 minutes Ashton completed his hat trick when from a Coco corner he ghosted in at the near post and headed home

Hunter scored the best team goal on 60 minutes when Pountney whipped in a wonderful cross from the right and Hunter finished with a downward diving header at the back post, great goal

Kieron who looked neat & tidy on debut had to be replaced by Ginge shortly after when he took a knock to the ankle and couldn't continue

Ashton got his 4th on 70 minutes when he picked up the ball 20 yards out and looped a shot over the keeper into the far corner

For the next 15 minutes it was the Paul Taylor show, revelling in his new role as a ball playing centre half, firstly he headed home a corner on the goal line then a towering back post header got his 2nd and the UNITS 9th

After some slick football Ginge was released in behind and was brought down as he was about to pull the trigger, up stepped Taylor for the penalty and slotted the ball home with ease to complete a hat trick from centre half, no mean feat!

Ross had replaced Coco who was much better today and after some good work from Taylor again he released Ross down the left who stood up the full back before beating him for pace then scoring a low shot past the keeper with an outside of the boot finish from 15 yards #toepoke

We kept going all game this morning and got our rewards with our biggest win of the season. The returning players made the world of difference as our energy levels were well up on previous games. Man of the match was a tight one but Ashton on his return to score 4 and along with Newt boss the midfield all game gets the nod
