Home league match played on 10 May 2012.
Kicked off at 6:30 PM

The UNITS once again picked SR as opposition to turn in arguably their worst performance of the season as we got rolled at home and lost out on the battle for 3rd place

With midweeks being the mess they are we actually had 15 to chose from alas with no goalkeeper so Marcus kindly donned the gloves and we lined up
Marcus, Chinner, Lacey, Kirbs, Darbs, Baker, Ashton, Coco, Ross, Taylor & Wallace
Subs Eggy, Matt Hall, Turner & Pountney

The UNITS imploded from the off, kicking into a strong wind and were 3-0 down inside 12 minutes and basically game over! From the kick off Lacey let the ball roll under his foot, setting the tone from the resulting throw we lost the flick on and Chinner was beaten to the ball as they scrambled the ball home to go 1-0 up

5 minutes later a long wind assisted goal kick from their keeper bounced and Marcus could only palm it into the top corner 2-0

In between the madness we were having our moments but we got caught out shortly after Lacey bombed on, we lost the ball and their striker exploited the pace in behind to round Marcus and roll the ball into the unguarded net

The UNITS then had chances of their own, Coco going close, Ross mis-controlling when a tap in beckoned, Wallace heading over and their keeper saving from Ashton but in the end after a UNITS free kick their midfielder headed into his own net under pressure and we pulled one back 3-1

However the UNITS conceded two more soft goal before HT. Another long kick from their keeper avoided Darbs and Kirbs as their striker raced clear and fired home and right on HT a carbon copy done us again as this time credit to him he had a wonderful first touch and cooly finished past our stand in keeper

HT UNITS 1 v 5 SR

Difficult for Cuzer to say too much constructive at HT as defensively we were as bad as we were against SR last time round

Pountney replaced Ross at HT in a straight swap

With the wind dying somewhat the advantage wasn't their for the UNITS in the 2nd half but credit to the boys we wee comfortably the better side and in the ascendency however the damage was already done
We missed 3 great chances early on and with their first shot on target in the 2nd half they scored again as Chinner was robbed in the box and their striker stroked past Marcus

Cuzer then threw on Matty Hall and Turner for the disappointing full back pair of Lacey & Chinner as we went 3-4-3
Again the UNITS were in the ascendency Wallace forcing the keeper to save well, Taylor shooting wide, we also rattled the woodwork before Pountney rifled in a superb free kick from 25 yards giving the keeper no chance

SR were always dangerous on the break and they scored a flattering 7th as an initial shot came back off the post, fell to their bloke who did well to check inside and stroke across Marcus

Still we plugged away Coco having a one on one saved, Turner having a header off the line but we have struggled to put the ball in the net all season and coupled with defending like we showed in the first half especially tonight we were on a hiding to nothing

SR are clearly the 2nd best side we've faced this year behind Gornal and have comfortably beat us over 2 games this season so credit to them

Man of the match went to Ben Wallace who led the line superbly up top and should have had a goal or two to go with his all round game
