SASS Strikers 2 vs 4 U17 Saints

SASS came out of the blocks strongly and dominated field position. But after 5 min Newtown started to get the upper hand and took command of the game.

Pushing into a strong breeze Newtown opened the scoring when Elijah's through ball found Danny Allen who finished clinically. A few minutes later Dylan A received the ball from a throw-in and turned into space across the top of the box before letting loos with a screamer that collected the far post and ricocheted in for the second goal. From here Newtown pressed their advantage when Dylan scored his first half brace from a great cross from Sam.

A defensive error from Wilson in goals lead to an own goal as he tried to clear the ball but kicked it straight into Jake and bounced right back into the net.

The second half saw Newtown struggle to take advantage of the wind until a goal clearance from Angus at Keeper cleared all the players and allowed Dylan to run onto and finish for his hat-trick. SASS scored shortly after when a player broke through our defensive line to slot a goal past Angus. The second half was lack luster from Newtown. Play continued through the middle and didn't take advantage of our width and wings as much. A few opportunities to extend the advantage went begging. Overall this was a far more commanding performance from this team who demonstrated how much they have improved as a team since our first meeting against SASS. Everyone was happy to come away with a solid win on a cold and windy day!!!
