Morning Boys,
Please see this weeks thoughts below:
Sunday's opposition was exactly what we had prepped for and expected. Big, physical, intense with sprinkles of good individual players.
Technically, I thought we were the much better side in how we moved the ball at times, but I do feel we found the physical side hard in phases. Boys at u10s, the physicality can sadly still win games of football and I feel Sunday was just that.
Watching back, we were better than what I had first thought. 1st quarter I thought it was pretty equal between the two teams, but we had chances to get ahead. Boys, at any level in football, goals change games and we have to take our opportunities when they come. We had a couple at 1-1 too.
2nd quarter I thought we allowed the game to become a little too open in which suited them and they had the better quarter.
Avery, in moments in the game when intensity is high and the ball drops to you with a little time, you must make sure you have the calmness to complete your pass. Their first goal comes from this. It's a direct kick from the keeper in which you do well to deal with Rory, however when it drops to you again, you don't complete your pass with no pressure on you and this puts us in trouble. Watch that goal back please boys.
For some reason chaps, we all decided to try and score from really far out. Absolutely, if it opens up get your shots off, but I counted 7+ from quite a bit outside the box in which the keeper was just catching.
We will be doing dealing with direct play this week as two of their goals come from this. We cannot allow the ball to bounce boys, it puts you in all sorts of problems.
Overall lads, it wasn't a bad performance and I feel we will be a lot stronger when we next play them.
See you at Futsal tonight or training Friday
