Unique FC U9 3 vs 3 Junior Elite Royals

Morning Boys,

Really tough one to take Sunday. I know we all really wanted to kick on and challenge in the Gold Cup which I really felt we could do.

I thought the game started fairly even with us just getting into our rhythm and taking control in my opinion. Their shape, 2-3-1 (but the 3 playing extremely central) gave problems in the first quarter but once we got on top of it we were able to manage the situation. Sidney, I thought you really had to sacrifice yourself on Sunday and I thought you took the information on well. We were tucking our opposite winger in and our near side winger staying to try and match them up out of possession. Once we got on top of this, I thought we were much better out of possession.

In possession we didn't hurt them enough and get the upper hand on their shape. I thought too often we were trying to play centrally where they had their bodies. We spoke about trying to work our switches to get Teddy, Jaxton and Carter in them 1v1s out wide but I don't think we did that enough.

Saying all that, we go 1-0 down which was 100% a foul and then 30 seconds after give away the penalty. We chased the game all the way until the end which isn't a great place to be.

I thought their gk made some outstanding saves early when the game was 0-0 which if they went in would've been a different game.

The big positive I will say is the character in this group. All the way until the end, we did not stop and thoroughly deserved the goal, well done Oscar T!!

Well done to all of you putting your hands up for pens and Jude/Ted for stepping up, heads up boys!

We're still unbeaten in a good few games now!
