Walkabout Wanderers F.C 3 vs 3 Boatmans

<p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25284" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">Walkabout hosted top of the league FC Boatman who&rsquo;s record proved they get on the score sheet in every game and concede very few also. Looked like a tough fixture for Walkabout after a frustrating game against Lundwood previously. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25216" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25265" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">The game started brightly, both teams showing quality on the ball and looked good in possession. Callum Bentley getting in amongst them in midfield as usual and not giving them much chance to create anything clear cut early on. <p class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">A breakthrough came when the ball fell to Callum Bentley 30 yards out who was allowed to take a touch towards goal and strike low and hard in to the bottom corner. A good finish after good possession play by Walkabout. The lead wasn&rsquo;t intact for very long as Boatman started to press for the equaliser, it came when the winger cut in from a run down the wing and stuck the ball into the far corner, good goal. Walkabout then had 5 minutes of good passing from the back, Hall and Pickersgill showing good composure on the ball and retaining possession well. A penalty appeal was denied when Brown seemed to go through on goal and was brought down from behind, the ref claims the defender got something on the ball, only he saw that. <p class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25266" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">FC Boatman took the lead 5 minute before half time after a break away down the right, the striker cut inside and stuck the ball well into the keepers far corner another great strike. Walkabout didn&rsquo;t deserve to be behind. They levelled up when another great through ball from Jack Wogan released Brown who had the beating of the centre backs with great bursts of pace was brought down on the edge of the area. Brown was through one on one with the keeper but the referee saw fit only to produce a yellow card, another dubious one from the ref as he was the last man and Brown was brought down from behind, Boatman should be down to 10 men. Pickersgill stepped up and curled the ball into the net with a cooly taken free kick. The half time whistle went and it was an even 1st half. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25276" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25275" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">The second half began and Berry was introduced in the midfield after the usual fiery Bentley risked a second yellow. Berry took control of the midfield and began some good link up play with Dan Ogden who held the ball up well up front. Walkabout had a good spell at the start of the 2nd half. They didn&rsquo;t get the goal they needed though and Boatman took the lead when a long ball was played to the striker and Pickersgill was judged to push the striker in the box, a very soft decision, the referee was certainly not on Walkabout&rsquo;s side today. The penalty was converted 3-2. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25274" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25267" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">Walkabout lost rhythm and FC Boatman started to see more of the ball. Shelley made 2 great saves to keep Walkabout in the game and the score at 3-2. The game pressed on in a well fought battle all over the pitch in a very even contest. Walkabout got a well deserved point when some good play down the left from Ben Bentley and Michael Winstanley left to Jansen Berry picking up the ball on the edge of the Boatman area. He then struck a great strike hard and low into the keepers bottom corner with just 5 minutes to play, excellent strike. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25268" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25269" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">An even contest overall however Walkabout might feel a bit unlucky as Boatman on another day might have had 10 men for 45 minutes and also a penalty. 3-3 was a fair result and I am looking forward to the second fixture of the season between the two. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25270" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_25271" class="yiv6186553040MsoNormal">VivaLaWalko, performances like that will earn them promotion!
