FC Shafton 2 vs 2 Walkabout Wanderers F.C

<p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_26632" class="yiv7257770309MsoNormal">Walkabout travelled to FC Shafton with 9 players missing, a very much depleted side but a strong one none the less. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_26600" class="yiv7257770309MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_26604" class="yiv7257770309MsoNormal">The game started poorly for walkabout FC, a number of players failed to start brightly, with missed controlled touches and getting caught in possession in venerable positions. FC Shafton posed a couple of threats early on but never really had a clean cut opportunity. Neither side had any rhythm passing the ball, and both struggled to play any kind of decent football. 10 minutes before the break a good ball in behind the defence released Stubbings drifting in from the left who calmly slotted past the advancing keeper, walkabout didn&rsquo;t deserve to be in front but a clinical finish saw the spark needed to change the game. Walkabout took control of the game and began moving the ball around the park with confidence. Some good passing moves lead to more chances and Walkabout could have scored again before the break, an encouraging end to a bad half. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_26613" class="yiv7257770309MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_26611" class="yiv7257770309MsoNormal">The second half started the same as the 1st. This time Shafton took advantage of an early opportunity with a well taken free kick which on another day Shelly might have saved. Walkabout seemed to be on the back foot, Shafton went in front when a ball from the right was contested in the box, Bentley went down with a head injury the ref let play continue and Shafton lashed the ball into the goal with a powerful strike. Walkabout felt the play should have been stopped as the ref had stopped play 5 minutes early for a similar head injury on the half way line. The ref was inconsistent all day long, for both teams. <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_26605" class="yiv7257770309MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1387479284641_26606" class="yiv7257770309MsoNormal">The game carried on in the same way for the rest of the match, not very good football being played by both teams but they were both trying to get the ball down and play. Stubbings went close again after a long ball found him free with the keeper to beat but a lack of composure saw the ball go wide. Smith didn&rsquo;t see much of the ball out wide and neither did Thornton, but the couple of times they did, they looked a threat. Walkabout took something from the game when the will to get something paid off 1 minute from time with a Unitedesque comeback. Brown was released in the box and runded the keeper but drifted wide, the cut back was blocked for a corner and Walkabout filled the box with Shelley (keeper) coming forward. A scramble fell to Foley who smashed the ball in from &nbsp;3 yards. Walkabout worked hard for the point in the last 10 minutes.
