Westfield progressed to the next round of the cup after defeating Victoria Baptists in a tough ESFL Challenge Cup away draw.
Westfield started the game as the better team and were unfortunate not to go in to the break ahead after Cam Woodley and Alex Mulumba both carved out decent opportunities.
It wasn’t until 7 minutes into the second half that the outstanding Jordan Yayha released fellow midfielder Joe Page on the left hand side of the penalty area and he finished smartly into the far corner to give Westfield a deserved lead.
Westfield continued to have the majority of the play and carved out some decent opportunities as well as keeping the Victoria Baptists attack at bay, with stand in right back Jack Whiteman looking particularly assured. But it was with 5 minutes remaining that Woodley picked up a loose ball following a Kyle Churchman challenge and rifled a 20 yard curler in to the far top corner to double Westfields advantage and send them through to the next round where they face another away journey to Herstmonceux.
Next week third placed Westfield return to league action by making the short journey to Bexhill College to play second placed Little Common. ????
