Home league match played on 28 June 2010.
Kicked off at 7:20 AM

Zion FC overpowered The G.A to maintain their 100% record in the Premier League this campaign. A Tommy Powell hat-trick and a David Jones brace led Zion to a 5-3 victory.

The Lions came out of the blocks well and immediately settled into good patterns of passing football. Chances started to come and before long The G.A defence was breached. David Jones found Tommy Powell, who found the net with a clinical finish. Moments later Jones scored after a good quick corner by Tony Dain. Chances came and went for the Zion players before Powell bagged his second. Jones again created the goal after good movement by Zion's marksman. Dan Shotton and Tony Dain were working hard at the back to keep The G.A out. The few strikes at goal that G.A managed were comfortably saved by Steve Winter. Winter is in the form of his Zion career at the moment and this match followed that pattern.

The second half started in the same vain with some fantastic football from the men in their changed white strip. Dain, Shotton, Jones, and Powell all had chances to extend the lead further but were thwarted by missed opportunities or outstanding goalkeeping. The goals did come. Powell scored a great individual goal, tucking the ball neatly passed the keeper. Jones then found the net after a good pass from Shotton. Zion's gear then shifted down from fourth to first as they allowed The G.A back into the match. Three sloppy passing mistakes allowed The G.A to grab three goals that made the scoreline more respectable for them. The truth of the matter is that Zion could and perhaps should have won by a much greater margin.

The post match talk amongst the gathered media was all about the drop in standard that the Premier League now displays. Zion with an five point gap with second place Real Portslade and a ten point gap with the chasing teams are making the league predictable and uninteresting according to many journalists. Tommy Powell disagreed however, and also stated that the league was not yet won, "I think this league is still tough. Every game throws a different challenge, and I think by saying that it's predictable it massively undermines our level of performance this season. We've been brilliant so far, that's why we have a gap at the top, not because the league has dropped in standard. As for us, we've got to keep our focus and continue winning games. The league is not won yet and until it is we won't get carried away with all this talk that it's already in the bag." David Jones believed that the perfomance was good but stressed that the team need to keep pushing in games or they could get caught, "We were brilliant today and deserved a greater victory. However, we took our foot off the gas and almost got punished. We need to make sure that we don't repeat that because had we not had such a strong lead, we could have been caught out." Zion could extend their lead at the top to eight points if they win next week against Real Portslade.
