More about the team

For those who don"t know us, we play in the North Herts Football League Division One and we are the senior side to the very successful local youth setup Baldock Town Youth. You can access the youth team website at www.baldocktyfc.co.uk.

Although the youth setup has been in place for a number of years now, our senior side only came to prominence at the start of last season (2003/04). The new senior side was formed from former products of the youth system, who were put together by committee members of the youth team.

In our debut season we were managed by Percy Davies and Malcolm Ward, both of which were also running their own youth sides at the time, which was a testament to their commitment to bring football to older lads, who may otherwise have given up playing. After a tough start a very respectable fifth place finish was achieved, which was a good result after a big change in playing personnel over the course of the season.

This season, the club has added some new acquisitions and also Malcolm Ward has taken over the reigns after serving as Assistant Manager last term. We ended 2004 in superb fashion as we crushed leaders Bedwell 5-2 to make up for the hammering earlier in the season.

After a promising first half of the campaign, the wheels came off The Reds trophy hunt and they ended the season with no silverware. Baldock can take heart from it though, sealing a Last 16 place in the County Cup along with three other Quarter-Final places in the other cups. The Reds also finished third in the table pipping Magnum on the final day, so it is definitely a progression from the first season, but a lot will be expected next season and the push for honours will be hotting up.
