History
- Early history: The club was founded in 1929 and played in the lower divisions of Italian football until the 1934–35 season, when they reached Prima Divisione, the third highest professional league at the time.
- 21st century: The club folded in 2005, but was re-founded the same year. They have since won promotion to Serie B three times, most recently in the 2016–17 season.
- In the 2017–18 season, Benevento made their debut in Serie A, finishing in 10th place. They were relegated back to Serie B in the 2022–23 season.
