Introduction
Carlisle City Deaf (ACL) are a grassroots football team made up of 7 team members. The team is from Carlisle, Cumbria, England and they play in the The Cumberland Ability Counts League (CACL) league.
History
ACL was founded in 2017 by a group of deaf footballers who wanted to create a team where they could play the sport they love without any barriers. The team quickly became successful, winning the CACL championship in their first season.
ACL has continued to be successful in recent years, winning the CACL championship again in 2020 and 2022. The team has also represented Cumbria at the national Deaf football championships, finishing as runners-up in 2021.
Current season
ACL are currently in their 6th season and they are looking to win their third CACL championship. The team is currently top of the table and they are in good shape to achieve their goal.
ACL have also been invited to compete in the national Deaf football championships again this year. The team will be looking to go one step further than they did last year and win the tournament.
The Cumberland Ability Counts League
The Cumberland Ability Counts League (CACL) is a football league for deaf and disabled footballers in Cumbria. The league was founded in 2015 and it currently has 10 teams competing in it.
The CACL is a great opportunity for deaf and disabled footballers to play the sport they love. The league is well-organized and it provides a safe and inclusive environment for players to compete in.
The CACL is also a great way to raise awareness of deafness and disability. The league helps to break down barriers and it shows that deaf and disabled people can be just as successful as able-bodied people in sport.
If you are a deaf or disabled footballer in Cumbria, I encourage you to get involved in the CACL. It is a great league with a lot to offer players.
