More about the team

Established in 1884, Chipping Football Club played on a ground five miles from Longridge station and changed in the Sun Inn and played in a strip of red and white.
Successes down the years have included back to back wins in the Riding Cup at Deepdale in 1986 & 1987 while playing in the Preston & District Churches League. The 1987-88 season saw them win the First Division and then set their sights on a new challenge by joining the Preston & District Football League. It is in this league that the club still competes.
Over the next decade, Chipping climbed steadily up the divisions and got as high as Division one. However, the club struggled at this level and dropped back down to division three. This was until the 2003/4 season when the new crop of Chipping footballers gained an excellent promotion to Division 2 and, in 2006/7 went up again to Division 1.
The club continued to play at Division 1 level until 2008/9 when due to internal affairs the club chose to return to the 3rd Division and in the 2014/15 season gained promotion from Division 2 of the Mid Lancs Football League into Division 1.
In 2018 the club applied to join the West Lancashire football league and on acceptance left the Mid Lancs to join it’s 2nd Division. At the start of the 21/22 season the clubs first ever Saturday reserve team was founded.
The current sides play in Green on Saturday afternoons on the village fields between the months of August and May.
The Greens have also been members of the Catforth & District Football League and became the first club to have three teams compete in one season, one in each division. The first XI have lifted the prestigious Barron Cup, and won the league, while the second and third teams have progressed well in their respective divisions over recent years.
