History
- UD Leiria was founded in 1966 by the merger of three local clubs: Lusitano, Sporting de Leiria, and União Leiria.
- The club's first major success came in 1978, when it won the Taça de Portugal, the Portuguese Cup.
- UD Leiria reached the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final in 1987, but lost to Ajax.
- The club played in the Primeira Liga, the top tier of Portuguese football, for 15 seasons between 1990 and 2005.
- UD Leiria went bankrupt in 2012 and was dissolved.
- The club was refounded in 2013 and has since played in the lower leagues of Portuguese football.
