- The club was founded in 1889 as Wimbledon Old Centrals.
- They won eight Isthmian League titles, the FA Amateur Cup in 1963 and three successive Southern League championships between 1975 and 1977.
- The club were elected to the Football League in 1977.
- They won the FA Cup in 1988, beating Liverpool in the final.
- The club were relegated from the Premier League in 2004 and relocated to Milton Keynes as Milton Keynes Dons.
